    New to Trident Maples

I won't have time to build a box before my training pot arrives unfortunately. I guess my main concern is the health of the root system in the plastic. Would it be better to let it air out?

    Donald Trump.

I'm jumping in this thread 180 pages in so I'm not sure if this has been covered. Forgive me, but time is valuable. Liberals have failed to correctly identify the true problems with Islam and the immigrants from Islamic states. Unfortunately, the religion is full of bigotry, suppression, and a...

    New to Trident Maples

I will post some more pictures this afternoon. I currently don't have a training pot large enough for the root system ( I have one ordered from that should arrive Saturday). I have some larger nursery containers that it would fit in. What do you guys advise I should do regarding the removal of...

    New to Trident Maples

I recently purchased a trident via a facebook auction. After patiently waiting, it finally arrived yesterday! This is my first trident maple and I have researched how to keep them healthy. I also dove into the "piglet's progress" thread and read the Peter Tea blog posts. I believe my tree is a...

    Shimpaku Help

Thanks Woody! I put it in a 1 gallon container today with the intention of giving it a few seasons to grow and become truly healthy. I used a 2/3 cactus soil and 1/3 perlite soil per recommendation of a member of my local bonsai club. I'm going to continue to increase the size of the nursery pot...

    Shimpaku Help

Thanks for the advice. Could you help me understand the notations in your quick sketch above? I'm guessing the red line is determining the front? What do the gray and white areas represent? Also, the numbers are branches I'm assuming? Thanks in advance!

First Tree of the New Year 2017 Thread

First trees of 2017. I think the willow leaf has a lot of great shohin potential. Not sure the direction to take the Taiwan ficus just yet.

http://imgur.com/a/c1pB3 Picked up this Black Pine today with some flaws. The reverse taper, circular roots and such cannot be repaired. I need some help developing the style and future of this tree. What do you guys think? Should I tilt, jin, or some combination of both?

    New to Bonsai

Junipers now receiving 6-7 hours of sun a day and they look very healthy to my novice eye. What is the way to prune without browning? I haven't even touched the trees but I want to tidy them up just a bit if you guys recommend? I know not to mettle to much with the trees but I would like to keep...

In the future, what are some species that require less sunlight? How often should I fertilize? Have seen many different instructions?

    New to Bonsai

It is currently located on an outside patio that receives sun about 5 hours a day from 1-6pm. The soil is a mixture of materials but definitely not potting soil. Should I position it where it receives the full 5 hours of sunlight? Also since the sun comes from one direction, how often should I...

    New to Bonsai

Thanks for all of the info! I live in a condo on the 3rd story and they are receiving about 2 hours of afternoon sun a day. Is that enough? I could reposition them and add a couple of hours but I wasn't sure how much they really need. I've read conflicting opinions.
