Nice little tree. I bought one just like it from NEBG early this spring and a squirrel killed it soon after. Luckily I managed to get one of several cuttings to root before the original tree was lost. The bark is great. Squirrel thought so too.

Luckily it isn't a crucial aspect of the design. Whether it stays or goes wouldn't effect the overall impact that of the tree. Meant to say, also, that losing the right branch may have been sort of a blessing in disguise. The shape of the lower jin is less obscured.

Rob, I noticed that the jin about in the center of the foliage maybe 2/3 up the trunk seems to change slightly between the first and the second picture. It looks as if it points downward a bit more. Did you work that jin as well? Or maybe the photo was taken at a slightly different angle...

The base on that monster is impressive, Marco. Being such a vigorous tree, it probably won't have trouble recovering from collection too. Looks large enough that the flowers may even work with the final design. You should start a thread for sure when you decide to collect it.
