Sorry about the backround. Was given these a year ago from a club member. I thought they would look good together. Ive neveraughter done a group planting but love the look of group plantings. Boxwood microphylla #33

Haven't done much to this one just keeping it healthy. Started to open it up some. Pulled down some branches. Think it's going to be a nice tree. Going for the live oak style. Pictures don't do it justice. Getting there I think. I found some pics on the net I think this tree could come close to...

Yew probably shouldn't have done that...

Bought this yew at the box store, not a good time to do work on them I think, but wanted to practice. Got inspired from Rob C.'s 5 year progression on one of his yews. Took alot of foliage off to see what's doing. Made a jin, and tried to see the tree with in. And that's what I came up...

    Juniper Procumbens Nana Veins

Picked one up today. Think it has some age. On the trunk it had a lot of flaky bark. There is some punky wood (dead) parts. When I flick off some of the bark I can tell it has that hollow sound. So there is dead wood in trunk. My question, Can I remove flaky bark so I can see where live vein...

    Green velvet

I consider myself still a newbie so I try to practice on cheaper stock. Keeping busy, developing a eye for things. So I know it's not much . Needs to be chopped more and wire but thought it looks ok considering. It was under ten bucks. It's fun to mess with cheaper stock that way you can't...

Would you attempt to collect this pine?

Not sure of variety but it looks pretty cool, pretty darn big though. It's got to be 4 to 5 feet across. Did a crappy virt. What do you think? To big?, nothing there?, not a good variety? Any thoughts?

    Canadian Hemlock box store find

Was at HD and found this guy. Really like the small needle like foliage. Trunk has potential. The one thing it seems like it's sitting on top of soil or root mass. or there's more trunk in there. 19.99 didn't think i did to bad. What do you think?

    Anybody familiar with pavonia praemorsa?

Not to familiar with tropicals. I think it is. It's not much right now but it was only 4.98. I like the smaller leaves. Researched and it has yellow flowers that last only a couple hours, starting with a color of apricot then turning yellow and finally a red when finished. Also it's in the...

Ficus... house plant or potential ?

I've had this ficus for about 9 yrs. Haven't really done anything to it over those yrs. since I wasn't really full steam into bonsai. So it's been basically a house plant. Knowing the nebari or lack thereof isn't very good at all. Is there something I can do to improve it?I know it needs...

Has anyone tried to preserve a tree that didn't make it?

Ok what I was thinking of is trying to preserve a boxwood That unfortunately did not make it. And I can't bring myself to throw it away. It reminds me of the things I did wrong. What I shouldn't have done and the things I could have done. I'm getting better but slowly. I was thinking of a spray...
