Is this wilt on a Bloodgood anything to worry about

Here's more information: 1. This is the temperate part of AZ; four seasons and more precip than N. California. 2. There's a thriving Crimson Queen about ten feet from spot where I planted the Bloodgood. 3. No frost yet...not expected for a few weeks December. 4. No fungal powder or...

Is this wilt on a Bloodgood anything to worry about

It's in partial but bright shade, but getting more sun than at the nursery where it was under a canopy. The branch shown is on the NW side, getting almost no direct sun. It came from an Oregon grower to N Arizona, it would be quite a change in summer but not in Oct/Nov.

Is this wilt on a Bloodgood anything to worry about

I planted a large (15 gal.) Acer P. "Bloodgood" two weeks ago to develop as a landscape niwaki. Since planting a few small branches here and there have wilted; curling, then going crisp. Its affecting a few leaves per day and is not wide spread. The first picture; the wilted branch, was taken...

Tool advice for a beginner in niwaki

Pretty close...Sedona; 4500 ft elevation and four seasons. We get lots of 95 degree days but its much cooler then the Phoenix furnace. Most pines seems to do well here if they can get established, and JMs too if shaded.

Tool advice for a beginner in niwaki

I'm beginning my efforts in niwaki training of JMs, mugho pines and small native pinon pines in my landscape. (I'm afraid summer heat and dryness here in N Arizona would make potted bonsai a lifestyle, rather than a hobby.) I know my std garden cutting tools aren't going to work for precise...

Planting a Bloodgood for niwaki cultivation...suggestions/advice?

I'm planting a Bloodgood to grow as niwaki; a trained small garden tree. It's 8 ft tall, has a 2.5 inch (60+ mm) trunk and is in a 15 gal. (60 l.) container. I would welcome suggestions on planting method to enhance niwaki development. I have very fine textured red soil, pH 7, with little...

Can dying Bloodgood be saved as bonsai starter?

An 8 ft Bloodgood that I planted last Spring has dried out unexplicably. It was planted and tended exactly like a Crimson Queen a few feet away that has thrived since planting. Its a total loss as a landscape tree but there is still signs of green wood in the 50 cm diameter trunk and lower...

    Not Quite Bonsai Bloodgood

New forum member here. I have a 6 ft Bloodgood with a 3" primary trunk and very nice multi-trunk form that I would like to train to stay at its current size. Perhaps more a "pygmy" than bonsai. Is this possible if it's in the ground? Where should i start?
