Wish I had your eye for trees... Nice work as always!

Was looking over my junipers this evening, and found a colony of these little buggers on two of them... Any ideas as to what they might be? Sorry I couldn't get a better photo. Will try again tomorrow if I can get the other camera to work.

I've used it before on Malus and Larch with similar results. It seems as though the grease soaks into the bark, softening it. If you're looking for an alternative to cut paste, try yellow wood glue. I've noticed fast healing with Titebond original, and none of the greasy mess when you go to...

Waterproof LoJack, tucked under the roots. Not a bad idea!

From an artistic standpoint I feel the larger particle size, and pot are taking away from the overall scale of the composition. Plant it on a slab with a finer gravel (if you can get away with it) and I think you'll be in business. (Just my opinion of course. I really do like this!) :D

A photo of the overgrown monstrosity...

My neighbor was kind enough to let me snag a few cuttings from an old(?) juniper she has growing by her house. It seems to be of the horizontal variety, given the height of maybe 8 inches. Any ideas? We are both at a loss as to what exactly it is.

I apologize if my comment came across... poorly. I've collected dozens of these little buggers, spring through fall, bare rooting, severely reducing the root system, and otherwise abusing the trees. Apart from the more extreme cases, I haven't lost one. Granted the trees I collect are usually...

It seems that the majority of the root mass is packed within the top 4" of the pot. My initial thought is to just sink them in the ground or a grow box for a few years and see what happens, but some starting point with the nebari would be a plus.

Home De-pot apparently has a sale on Yew this week. In the short time I had to dig through their stock, I found three of the most promising Media that I could. The issue I'm having is that apparently the trees are ground-layering inside the pot. There are an abundance of feeder roots making...
