Here is a shot from where I would envision the new front to be (perhaps rotated clockwise a few degrees would be ideal). Are there going to be huge-ass scars that need to heal, yup... but that's what you have to deal with when you cut a 25ft tree down to 2ft.

The chop would be below the crotch, turning this into three trees. Two with single trunks, and one double. The main tree would be a single, and then the other two would be derived from air-layers. The lines in the virt were intended to be above the buds that are on either side.

Thank you guys for your input thus far. But before this thread derails into another pissing match, does anybody have any experience with Roshi Tools specifically?

Its not that it is of no issue Vance, but it is very comparable in price to carbon steel, would you disagree?

Those two reasons are why I havent pulled the trigger on them in the past. But this set breaks down to about $40 or so per tool, so that is issue is mitigated. What ARE the benefits of stainless, other than the shinyness?

Does anyone have any experience with Roshi stainless tools? Ive been wanting to get some stainless tools for a while, and Stone Lantern has a nice price on a set right now. I absolutely 100% do not need them, my black carbon tools are working just fine... but need and want are two different...

So the roots bursting is a result of the roots being confined, NOT the actual freezing itself? So theoretically if the roots have not filled the pot, roots bursting shouldn't be an issue? I had always assumed that roots, like fruit, will "macerate" when frozen because jagged ice-crystals...

Once the tree goes dormant, it will need very little water. I use handfuls of snow, or if it hasnt been snowing, ice from the freezer.

Im in 6a, and have never had an issue with unglazed pots. Glazed on the other hand...:mad:
