Can anyone show me a decent DIY cement pot?

So can anyone show me a decent homemade pot other than proper ceramics? Like cement or cement type mixes etc. It seems like all of the pots I've seen look like total garbage. They are all way too heavy, too thick and have poor holes for drainage and tie downs. Not to mention it seems like they...

Does tree have to look like its natural counterpart?

So I've seen a lot of trees and a lot of discussion about the way to style trees. I have also been discussing this recently with my area study group. So does a tree have to have any resemblance to it's natural style or styles? When does it not? So FOR ME - I am just giving my thought. I see...

I think this tree was ruined .... thoughts

So this tree was posted on a facebook bonsai group. I said i thought personally that this tree was done a terrible disservice and really couldn't understand the process. Please give your opinions of this work. Thanks - trying to see the difference in opinion that maybe I can't see.

    Collected a few big BC

Well I should say I had them collected. I need a tree spade like this. Know a guy with a tree farm and he dug these all out for me for $50 a tree ;). They all had trunk issues so they were never dug for retail sales. It's good to have friends in the tree business.

Some reworking and some other Yard shots

I redid the center island in the yard - it was a big mess of low tables and a lot of crowded stuff. The block/wood stands are better. And here are some other yard pics.

When or not when to chop up a nursery juniper?

So I started a lively discussion at my club the other day about nursery junipers. I have lots and lots of them and most of them I have treated pretty rough in the beginning. I am always trying to really put some science into the things people tell me and I read etc. especially when there is a...

Big Ficus - not super familiar

So I received this large ficus along with two other large trees from the collection of a hobbyist who passed away. Two are ficus and one is a raintree - the other two trees are styled in a more upright traditional look that is easily continued but with this one I am super unfamiliar. What should...

    Large Hollywood Juniper

So this is a year or so since I got this thing. It was a 15 gallon topiary puffball that had the top broken off. I chopped it up and stuck it in a way too large box and gave it an initial wiring. I recently changed the angle and design and put it in a pot large enough to not have to do anything...
