I have not re-potted since last year. And as far as watering goes I never leave it soaking wet in muck. It has good drainage and the days are pretty warm here so it hasn't been sitting in water for long periods of time. Now you mention the repot because of moving roots around and I have to...
I have myself here a little rhododendron I Purchased last year for a few bucks. It has always done very good and well taken care of. However as of a few days ago the leaves have began to die back. Im not sure if this is normal. They look like they are drying out but they actually are fairly...
Yea I would go to lowes or home depot. Lowes has plenty clearance near the indoor plants. Some may come along with half dead plants but some of those pots are well worth the $1. Home depot is currently clearance all outdoor plants and sell for about $3 a plant, you may find something worth...
Hello. I recently purchased this cotoneaster from Lowes. It was a giant tangled mess of long strands and unwanted branches. After I trimmed it down quite a bit I realized the initial trunk link and shape I thought I seen at the store, was not actually what I envisioned. So with that said I am...
lol I am back. I was hoping this would of been deleted by now. Apparently not....Maybe ill get around to what I originally wanted to post, however this thread now seems to of taken a different path lol Thanks for the warm welcoming!
Its finally that time where the weather dips down below 35 degrees on average every night. So i decided to move everything indoors for now. slightly. There in a small room right before entering out main door into the house, its enclosed with windows for plenty of morning and early afternoon sun...
Alright that makes sense. So say it was spring, again how much of this root system can i safely remove. Not saying im going to do it now. But I am very interested and would like some info on if its okay to remove a majority of the fine stuff and just expose the large roots
So with that being said, how far can i go with the root pruning. Its at the point where what is left is semi solid on the inside of that bundle. I really would like to expose the base of the trunks a tad bit more as well as some surface roots. But in order to do that i feel i need to remove the...
I actually just slide it out of the nursery pot and it was all just this very fine root system. Very little soil and alot of bark fell out with some light shaking and brushing. So in the future is it okay to remove most of that fine stuffand just find my way to the more hearty roots?
I just recently bought this tree an another from a home depot for $7 and seen some potential and for that cheap just something to practice on without too much of a risk. My question is how much of this root system can i remove before i cause to much damage? It looks smaller than it is it quite a...
Thanks! Yea I live nearby I am over in Penfield. What a surprise to see your on this forum. Im not sure when you are available, but that would be great if i could stop by and you can help me out and give me some ideas. Ive wanted to check out your other trees you have on display as well and sign...
Thanks for the response. As I was saying im looking for insight and ideas other may have. Not looking for someone to virtually shape trim and design my tree via the interwebs. I have a few trees I have been taking care of and enjoy every aspect involved, just looking for others point of view and...
Hello a month or two back I bought this tree off of Bill Valavanis, owner of international bonsai. When i purchased it I was told it was just recently cut back and it already has all the branches wired how he wanted them for shape and growth. Now I am at the point where I have let it continue to...
