    Here's my bald cypress that finally budded out and started growing. Only question is a lot of places there's 2 or 3 branches coming from the same spot. Should I go ahead and thin those spots out to 1 branch while the growth is still green or wait.

    I've seen people saying they use vaseline on cuts too keep it moist what that work in this situation.

    I going to pot it up as soon as I get it and keep it nice and wet and just let it grow. Hopefully I will have a nice tree out of this in the future.

    I'm getting a bald cypress in a few days and wondering what would be a good soil mix for this type of tree I know they love water and can live underwater so what would be somthing that would get the full potential out of the tree?

    On Facebook thers a group search for bonsai classifieds. There's another group by the same guy called bonsai talk. The classified group has weekly auctions but the guy that runs both groups is mark Goodman that's who Im getting my tree from.

    Yeah it was $100 I've seen way smaller bald cypress trees from a nursery that cost more than that. The gut I got it from pretty much goes out and finds whatever the people want.

    It's going to be freshly collected from the wild and the guy is pretty reputable. $100 for a nice tapered bald cypress with a big base.

    So I shouldn't be to worried about having it shipped. That was my main concern it being to stressed that it gets dug up and shipped for a couple days and then dies.

    I'm going to be getting a yamadori bald cypress it will be shipped to me from Louisiana. It will be trunk chopped and roots will be just how it was dug up. I know bald cypress are very hardy but this has to be stressful on the tree so what should I do to ensure it has the best chance of living.

    the timing is what i need to learn. like when you can trim the tree or roots or when you can dig a tree up and pot it. Im still unsure about that. well the only thing i am sure about is i want to learn as much as i can

    yeah im about 30 min north of nashville. my grandparents own about 100 acres thats heavily wooded i thought about trying to get some trees offf of the property but i really dont know what im looking for so i will probably buy a first tree.
