    Hi GoldenEagle, The best way to thicken up your base is to do a trunk split, first do one side then leave to heal before you do other side Use the correct tool according to your base size.

    Hi Fredman, Presently the tree is still full of foliage,I normally defoliate the tree completely in Feb by doing this the tree normally keeps most of the foliage throughout winter ,late July will be the best time to take a pic.
