    Mina: Slayer of Trees

Haha, no, I totally get it! like I said in my first introductory post, I had discovered the Rocky Mountains Bonsai Club before discovering this forum, but because I am a retail manager the time that they're meeting is every single month is something I am completely unable to get to.I commented...

    Mina: Slayer of Trees

Oh, I totally agree... we have LOTS of trees, but so few types! I grew up in Indiana, where its the opposite. I have a big ugly juniper Bush in my front yard I was going to take a cutting from, and wanted to take a cutting of the kind of fir with the long bushy needles. I bought the materials...

    Mina: Slayer of Trees

Thank you! In general, is there a general feeling that starting from collecting roots and all vs a cutting is considered better or safer or easier to start out with? Things outside are starting to bud, so I'm starting to get antsy to go out and gather!

    Mina: Slayer of Trees

Awesome, thank you!! Should I remove the dead leaves on it as well, then? They're stealing nutrients, aren't they? (And should I keep putting it outside in the daytime for sun?)

    Mina: Slayer of Trees

 Yeah, that helps haha, googling that... it looks a lot closer than the pine thing I found!!! I did leave them outside on accident overnight once. :( Does that mean it's kaput?

    Mina: Slayer of Trees

Basically I'm just curious if you guys can help me figure out what caused this. Is it too cold or windy or am I overwatering? Are they sick? Should I not have repotted the wee tree? I obviously have no idea what I'm doing, and I don't even know if they're able to be saved. Should I just...

Here is the smaller tree, (or what's left of it,) and a close-up of the weird black leaves.

    Mina: Slayer of Trees

I think I might hold some sort of record here, "Most Trees Killed in Five Months" as well as maybe "Quickest Tree Death" ? I posted earlier that I have two new trees, and am trying to feel better about killing the Cotoneaster I got in October. I un-potted the dead Cotoneaster and "for fun"...

    Hello from Colorado

Hi, neighbor. :) I'm the other new Colorado person, but I've only lived here for a year and a half. I'm not to bonsai too, not just the forum. :( I'm so used to growing things in the Chicago climate where I lived for 30 years, to start bonsai AFTER moving here has been... a bit defeating. :(...

    Hello!

Here is my plant zone: http://www.plantmaps.com/80033 I'm not sure what any of that means yet, though! :( Nope, nothing! D: Just "Oh, it's a good time, you should get two, they're all on sale!" I don't know how much to trust them. I did some reading before I went in the first time when...

    Hello!

Oh, collecting them!! Yeah, every time we walk the dogs out on the trails now, I see thing I want to bring home, my husband already thinks I'm crazy! I already killed one and replaced it with two?? Lol, he's not really a plant guy, so we'll see how this goes. :P

    Hello!

Thanks!! I think my two trees are maybe not the best for bonsai now that I've read a little more. The trunks are straight and really woody, I don't know if I'll be able to bend them. As for it being addicting and madness, ACK! How do you guys leave your trees alone? Is that how you end up...

    Hello!

I am super new, and so excited to find a forum! I tried facebook groups and looking for local groups, but the Colorado groups meet up when I'm at work every month, boo!! I've always wanted to get into bonsai, but was never really able to until recently. I bought a Cotoneaster (out of a van...
