    HELP! - Unknown Rooted Cutting

Thank you! I believe it is a euonymus - I have the variegated variety in my yard, but apparently the young leaves of a cutting do not have the white halo around the leaf. Anyone ever use eunoymus as bonsai ? -Kirk

    HELP! - Unknown Rooted Cutting

Hi all, I've been experimenting with a homemade bubble propagator : http://localbonsai.com/update-preparations-for-a-bonsai-aeroponic-propagator-2/ Until now, all of my greenwood cuttings have failed (acer, abies, malus, betula, etc) except for this mystery cutting ! I don't even...

    Hydroponic Techniques for Bonsai

I did look into the pond foggers. However, I read that they have a very limited lifetime, and the vibrating wafers need replacement. I figured an air pump was simpler.

    Hydroponic Techniques for Bonsai

I'm doing it for the sake of trying something new, and the prospect of getting difficult-to-root species to root. Supposedley with 30 min ON/OFF bubble cycles, a system like this can create roots in days - the exact reasons are a mystery to me.

    Hydroponic Techniques for Bonsai

Hi everyone, I'm attempting to build an 'Aeroponic Bubble Cloner' to propagate softwood cuttings for bonsai, and I'm wondering if anyone has attempted a comparable set-up. The principle is to use the bursting of bubbles on the surface of water in the vicinity of softwood cuttings to...

    Baby Japanese Black Pine Repotting

I'm elucidating that the choice to work with non-native trees has drawbacks, ex. cannot plant in the ground to bulk-up. I'm not referring to any type of tree in particular.

    Baby Japanese Black Pine Repotting

I agree that it needs time to bulk up. This is why I prefer using native plants for bonsai, as I like to plant them in the ground for those purposes - black pine do better south of me. -Kirk

Nebari Reconstruction : from claw to exposed-root

I'm looking to develop more roots, not layer. I tried the new method of using an additional pot, because I didn't want to disturb the few pre-existing roots. I don't fully understand wounding... trees grow roots in nature without wounding, correct ?
