    I've gone Pro!

In society wealth is measured in assets. In nature success is measured in happiness. You can change people's lives one day at a time by just loving your job and making their day better. I like your attitude. I'd hire you!

Funny how a guy that knows so little about myco is so dead set against it. I encourage the rest of you to study up on the benefits of myco and give it a try for yourself.

    Mycorrhiza

Endo myco form the symbiotic relationship with the roots inside the root, but the mycelium still extends outside the root. You get mycelium with endo and ecto myco. With the ecto there is a tendency of the myco to "coat" the roots in addition to the mycelium so if you had a trained eye you...

    Mycorrhiza

Who is promising a miracle? Sure myco will happen naturally. People add the myco spores to speed up the growth of the mycelium so the plant can absorb nutrients more quickly (and not wait for nature to eventually reach a critical mass of myco). Disease resistance is an added benefit. That $20...

Perhaps they did some research to determine it is better. Or just maybe they smoked it for themselves and now can't stand the "chemical" taste that the Miracle Grow grown weed seems to have. Regardless, the market for non organic weed in areas where it is readily grown is almost non existent.

There is a world of information out there, including full blown studies with documented results showing the benefits of myco. Feel free to show yourself. Any information that someone else shares you are not going to believe. You can continue to dig your heels in if you want. Or you can open...

Lol, its not splitting hairs. There has been decades of research and product development to create the right combo of myco to successfully inoculate MOST plant and tree roots. There is a wide variety of myco in that one product. That combo of ingredients is no accident. Determining the exact...

    Mycorrhiza

Once you have the right kinds and quantities of myco for the species of plant or tree you are trying to inoculate, it is as easy as making the spores available. Growing truffles is not comparable to introducing myco fungi to a root structure. Growing truffles involves finding the right...

    Mycorrhiza

Endo mycorrhizae penetrate and work on the inside of the roots but the hyphae do extend outside the root. The visual appearance of the mycelium does not mean it is ecto. Only 5-10% or so of the world's plants utilize ecto myco. They are generally conifers and oaks. The other 90% utilize endo...

I wish every single one of my trees had that much myco activity. Miles of roots delivering nutrients to your tree! The only question I have is how that much myco activity would impact the growth rate of the surface roots being developed to create a beautiful nebari.

Repotting vs up potting: disturbing roots vs chopping roots

Ever used an umbrella? It doesn't reach the edge of the air but things under it seem to stay dry. How long would you propose watering to get even watering to the dead center point directly under the board? Sorry, sarcasm is my default personal defense mechanism.

Repotting vs up potting: disturbing roots vs chopping roots

@ AdairM How do you ensure moisture to the larger substrate below the board? It seems like the water would almost never reach many of the roots directly below the board. Is this never a concern or is there a simple solution? Very educational info for me so thank all of you for sharing.

Repotting vs up potting: disturbing roots vs chopping roots

I am mostly curious about the rule in general. If I don't cut the roots can i repot later into the spring? This spring I want to repot some Trident Maples, Korean Hornbeam and some Quince. I purchased several seedlings last year and put some of them in 4" pots and some in the 10" pond baskets...

Repotting vs up potting: disturbing roots vs chopping roots

I have a dozen or so young plants in 4" containers that I want to get into 10" pond baskets but the buds have opened up into small leaves. Some of the plants are already in a similar substrate to what I will be using. Other plants are still in nursery soil so I would need to remove most of the...

Napa Floor Dry tailings safe in raised garden beds?

I sift my floor dry with an 1/8" hardware cloth. The tailings all seem to be just less than an 1/8". Should I be using these tailings (along with lava and pumice) in my raised beds or is there some health concerns with the floor dry supporting my edible plants?

    Trunk chop advice

I have had this guy for a couple of years. I chopped it down to about 18" last year thinking I would either repot this spring or do a more aggressive chop. If I decide to chop this down further, any advice on where you would make the cut? Anything you see that I should use as a new leader or...

    Misting on really hot days?

Anyone using misting heads around their trees to cool the air on really hot days? Is there risk of the water collecting on the leaves and causing the leaves to burn in the sun? Running about 108 degrees and so it seemed like running a couple of mister per bench would give the trees some...

    Cause of leaves withering?

Here is a photo of the entire tree. It is still in the nursey pot it has been in for years. There are clusters of leaves like the first photo all over the tree. The top is pretty healthy. It just seems strange that it occurred so closely to my first application of fertilizer.
