I've seen conflicting recommendations on fertilizing Olives. Some say only twice per year, others say once per month. I'm new to Olives, so what would you recommend?

I received my Olive about 3 weeks ago. I slowly worked it into full sunlight and I think it's settling in well. Since I'm in New York I only have about 2 or 3 months till I have to bring the Olive inside because of the cold. Should I fertilize it, this late in the season? Or, wait till Spring?

So, I put the Olive in the sun for an hour yesterday. It'll be in the sun for 2 hours today. I think I'll do 2 hours per day through the weekend and start 4 hours per day early next week. Work up to full sun in 2 weeks.

That was a very good way of describing it! I understand what you mean. So, I'll slowly, over the course of a few days/week, acclimate it to the sun. Thanks to everyone for the help.

Is it illegal to order the tree from Israel? I won the eBay bid and they sent it to me. I assume it went through Customs.

Newbie question, I know. But what would you guys reccomend as a good fertilizer for my trees. If it matters, they are all pre-Bonsai's: Hibiscus, Europen Olive, Dogwood, and White Oak. So, liquid or solid? NPK level? Something affordable.

I stopped by a local nursery and they gave me another plant for free! I'm not sure what it is, but I liked the trunk and figured I could work on it next Spring.

Thanks Darlene. When I saw it, it just stuck out to me. Ok, so I guess the consensis is to button it down for the Winter and see how it looks in early Spring. At that point I can trim the branches and roots, and repot.

I took a trip to a local nursery and found a Hibiscus, "Rose of Sharon", with a really interesting trunk (I'll try to post pics of it later). The worker ended up giving it to me for free! Ok. So if I didn't use a heating pad or cable, wrapped the pot in burlap and covered the soil in wood chips do you think I could just leave them in my shed, with no sunlight? Of course I would water them every couple of weeks.
