Some explosive growth on the jar lid ficus! This is after chopping off much, much more rootage. Worked like a dream! Totally flat on the bottom, many radial roots and a lot of ariels. Now to work on some branch structure. Should make a nice multi trunk/apex tree.

Worth a shot. I'm trying the method of cutting windows in the bark and doing a sort of ground layer this season. If that doesn't work, I'll try something more drastic next spring.

I use a small greenhouse for my cuttings to keep the humidity up.

How's this thing doing @carp ? Did it root for you? I've got a big one with no real nebari that I'm hesitant to root like this. I've rooted largeish (1 inch) ficus cuttings with 100% success but am nervous try it with my 3.5" ficus trunk.
