    Sick tree?

There is something going on with the leaves/branch (or soil/roots). It seems the tree has only 1 branch which has 'sick' leaves (deformed), do I need to take action or is it ok? It's a branch I want to remove, so if I can cut it is even better. I don't see any creatures/insects in the tree...

    Alerts from "watched forums"

When I make a post in a thread, it automatically flags it as "watched thread". I can turn alerts off for watched threads, but I can't do the same for watched forums, is there an option somewhere else? I can't find it in the "Alert Preferences". Or do I need to unwatch/unmark all the seperate...

    Grow wires inside trunk?

I saw some video of someone filming his collection, and he had a 'special' technique with the wiring. Never take them off? EVER? Does anyone do this or think it's a good idea? First I thought he was lazy on some tree's, but all the tree's had wires embedded in the trunks and they didn't seem to...

New posts of "my watched threads"

It is possible to see only the new posts of my 'watched' forums? If I press the "New Posts" button I also see all the posts in threads I'm not watching (I just see them all).

    Emergency re-collecting scots pines

I have collected about 5 pines (this spring), and they are in the ground at my parents place. But, they are going to move, and there is a possibility it will happen in december. Is it better to get them out of the ground now and / or is it possible to collect in december (or whatever is better?)

    Is this possible?

I've seen u guys do some crazy sh!t but this video (at 18 minutes)? In another video he puts a log in a pot (yep an entire log, 30 cm width and 40 cm height.). Do you need perfect timing and/or give it massive amounts of root hormone or is this doable (with some species)? He does compact the...

    "Leave this page" popup?

Sometimes when I click between posts or opening another page on this website I get a popup stating "false" and asking me if I want to leave the page or stay, so it's perhaps broken or just me. Anyone else have this? I'm on a VPN connection so maybe it's just some cookies fighting there.

    Voting up/down posts.

Yoo I'm back with a brand new idea (for the same problem). Maybe (if it's possible) change the like button to 2 thumb buttons so we can track / see the best post. With only the like button it's not clear if a post is funny or correct.

    Pine collecting

I have a chance to collect pines/saplings from a field nearby because they want remove all tree's*. The soil/mud where they are standing in is very compact and bad, and I was wondering what is the best approach to get them collected / in bonsai soil / not kill them? When collecting deciduous...

    Air-layering timing?

Yeay, found my bag of moss! But., I want to know, is there a difference in timing per type or is it always in spring before the buds go? I want to air-layer an firethorn (semi-deciduous?), maybe my ficus, and a birch. Also doing a double air-layer isn't a problem right?

    "Fakey"

Opinions? (chop/ground perhaps?) Oh, yeah I was thinking myself to go the safe path and maybe practice an graft as u can see): The root is crazy btw, and has a huge bend (most of under ground atm): p.s.: Fakey is a Foemina-subspecies, but you would have guessed that i think. (non-flowering...

    Sifting question

I have some 'old' bonsai-mix (collected during my 'learning experience') which i was sifting, but there are clumps of sand/soil (maybe also dead roots holding it together) which i can't sift out because they are larger then dust but too small/abundant to just pick out (the same size as the rest...

Difference in timing: collecting vs repotting

What is the difference in time for collecting material and/or repotting it? I have saved a plant last year from death, it was thrown in the forest on the ground to die, but i put it in nearby hole in the ground and filled it up with some soil. It's still alive so i want to retrieve it, should i...

    "Advanced" Search / sorting function.

I like to check old(er) threats with low reply's (sometimes threats are forgotten or pushed so fast down in the "New Posts" button they are missed). Forum rank(s) / Karma.

Maybe a cool addition to the forum would be an vote/point-system to rate someone's (bonsai) knowledge. At the moment we can only see how funny someone is (number of likes), and how much posts someone has made. So, perhaps it's nice to vote on the best awnser / member so we have an indication...

    Re-graft feeder roots?

Is it possible to cut a long tap-root (or a transport/support-root) with feeder-roots on the end, and re-graft it to itself (only shorter ofcourse without the long laggy root we don't need). Some tree's have long transport/tap-roots, but on the end have viable feeder-roots, i want to try to save...
