    Repotting and Wilting

I repotted because it was still in a very small seedling pot. The roots had gone around the pot more than once; to say it was root bound is an understatement. The tree is already a foot tall so the seedling pot was not going to work. It is also an indoor only tree under artificial lights, both...

    Repotting and Wilting

I don't believe its because of too much water because I am using the chopstick method to check for moisture. The leaves are not changing colors at all, they are staying green. I believe it gets satisfactory lighting. It may be because of too little water because it is in a somewhat dry location.

    Repotting and Wilting

So I replanted my Willow Leaf because it needed it badly. I have been watching it for almost a week now and it has steadily become more wilted. I think that I read that Ficus can lose their leaves after a repotting but will grow them back. Is this true? The entire tree is wilted to at least some...

    Optimal Artificial Light

Yeah... it's possible i did mess up my numbers. I'm using the whitegoods app for iPhone to measure so ill play around with it a little. It is in a reflector so it should stay at a decent level. Regardless of what it really is, is 6-12 inches a good range to aim for?

    Optimal Artificial Light

It's bonsai soil. It looks dark because I had just moistened it up because it dried out a little. It has volcanic rock and river sand as well as some organics. Will it suffice? It is clearly labeled bonsai soil

    Optimal Artificial Light

I know this question doesn't follow the thread title, but is it too early to repot my ficus? It needs it desperately. It will be an indoor only tree

    Optimal Artificial Light

I recently started this hobby and after realizing that I needed artificial light went out and got two. One is a full spectrum CFL. The other is a 10xRed and 2xBlue LED grow light. At six inches they put off 100k and 15k lux respectively. I've read that 10k lux is enough to grow my trees (dwarf...

I received my new grow light today. It's a 10xRed 2xBlue LED. It's actually a very well made light for pretty cheap so it works for me. I have that set up in another reflector. All of the guides on potting I've read stated that the plant should be left out of direct sunlight for a least 2 weeks...

I just repotted the plant yesterday so it seems a little early for root rot right? The yellow leaves were on the plant when I bought it about 2 days ago so those aren't new. I'll keep my eye on it and hopefully she can bring herself around. I'll look into new soil

The leaves seemed to have "wrinkled" a little after the initial watering. Does this show over hydration?

    Beginner with Questions

I thought it was possible to grow plants under fluorescent lights that are not "grow" lights. I understand that a light that fits the plants needs will probably be better but will my light work? I will probably get another light that is a "grow" light with another reflector just to maximize growth.
