I found this in my JBP soil help!

These are larvae I assume. Also there were tiny white worms in the soil. The worms were much smaller than these things. What the heck are they?

    Fertilizer question.

I fertilize my trees with 30:10:10 full strength for most of the growing season until mid august then I switch to a 5:7:5 slow release fertilizer until winter. My question is once I aply the strong summer stuff ,I wash it out with water about 8 hours later to prevent buildup in the soil. Is this...

    fertilizer mix?

Can fertilizers be mixed? So for example a 10:20:10 mixed equal parts with 30:10:10 would yield a 20:15:10?

    Silly project perhaps.

These are 3 images of a shimpaku juniper that im working on. In this case I want the tree to tell a story, I understand that it does not really conform to any style and it maybe stupid on my part to do this. Nobody said I was a bright bulb on the tree. Anyway how does one go about pinching the...

For all the folks in the great white north.

This is advice I got from Brent at Evergreen Gardens. I think its a great idea. Ok, it's a little pricey, but here's what you can do that is foolproof. First, gather all the most tender plants in one place, preferably near the floor. Make a little barrier with plastic, wood or cardboard, so...

I think this maple is trash?

I bought this maple on advice from people to buy better material. It cost a pretty penny and after this winter the top 2/3 of the tree trunk is dead. I cant imagine how this can be saved if you have ideas Im open to them. All my other maples that on paper are more sensitive to cold are fine...

I have a picture of a white pine I bought to practice on. The graft union is very ugly so I dubt it will make a good bonsai. However I would like to find out from you guys what I should do to this tree to make it branch out more and such. How do you pluck the needles on these? When would these...

I live in Southern Michigan but would love to get a flowering tree that can take the cold of zone 5-5a. I would love to get a tree with crimson red flowers, or even better would be black flowers! Do you guys have any recommendations?

    Austrian pine styling.

I know this pine will need a trunk chop but at what location? Also when should this be done? I cleaned the plant up a bit,it was much more dense so opened it up to let the sunlight in.
