Thank you everyone for the input. It has rained a lot lately and the tree does need to be repotted as water isn't draining as fast as it should. I hope the issue is only that it has been too wet lately.

i just noticed this today. I'm not sure if this is normal? Is it fungus? The needle tips are yellowing over most of the cork bark JBP.

Here are photos of left, back, and right sides. The apex still needs to come forward more but I moved it as much as I safely could today.

Is needle removal ok to do now? The fist branch and back branch were completely wired already. They were the only ones I was going to guy wire but I did go ahead a pull down two more that were only partially wired. There's no wiring left to do that the wires will interfere with. But yes, my...

Here's an update. I've continued the work to lower branches. Today I moved the apex to come forward also. I haven't got the fine wiring done yet but will continue working as time allows. I do have a question though...it's obvious that the tree was not de-candled last year as the needles are 2-3x...

Thanks for sharing that Mach. In all honesty though, I like your first drawing better. I'm using it as inspiration in lowering the branches to a better angle and create the foliage pads. I'm not ready to cut off branches yet though.

I've got a question about making a cut above a branch to help lower it. Couldn't a small wedge be cut into the branch where it meets the trunk to help it move? Seems to me that it would be less visible than a cut above the branch. I've never tried either but I'm curious why cutting above would...

Ok. Update. I realized that no matter what final direction the tree my take, the branches needed to come down. I used guy wires. I lowered all of them except the very top of the tree. I think it gives a softer feeling now instead of those "corners".
