Nice trees pictured there @Craig I like your pots too. @Eric Group Thank you for posting that link. Really good stuff. I have enjoyed looking through it. I like the big stuff, and can find beauty in all sizes of bonsai, but mame and shohin are special. imo

    Ben Ficus Nebari

@Anthony Thank you for the detail. I have had back budding on my brain, and haven't thought about a graft. It is nice to have options. I have a smaller cutting that is a clone of this tree that would work good. I'll take a look at it.

I am hoping it will pop a bud while the roots are growing back out. I had one this year that started budding from the trunk with no encouragement. If it does not throw any buds this summer I will chop it next spring. @petegreg Maybe I will have your luck.

The injector is used to inject the liquid fertilizer into your water as you irrigate. I use two types of injectors. The cheapest is a simple siphon device. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003TPBF1Q/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1471202404&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=fertilizer+siphon You...

    Japanese maple and ficus suggestions

Hopefully you will get some back budding on your ficus benjamina. They can be stubborn about it. Pretty maple. That is a ruff graft to try and hide. It will make for good practice! Keep posting your progress.

Decided to repot and root prune this ficus. I am not sure if it will ever back bud low, but I like the nebari it has, so I'm going to try and develop it. IMG_20160728_103910 by Labreapits posted Aug 11, 2016 at 7:39 PM I expected it to be root bound. It had been in the same pot as a house...

@biglou13 "rootmaker makes a net fabric bag, which im anxious to test because you get the best of both worlds" Has anyone ever tried rootmaker's knit fabric in-ground containers? Or other grow bags? I use their 1 and 3 gal injection pots for production of landscape plants, but haven't used...

Fusing trunks with Willow Leaf Ficus

I was looking back through Jerry Meislik's book about Ficus. On page 94 there is a picture of a multiple stem tree that is being fused together. It has a large trunk with may small stems coming off of it. They are tied together to fuse with what looks like black electrical tape and they are...

    Ficus Benjamina Chop

#1 I am thinking about fusing the trunks on. I bought it about 20 years ago at a grocery store. It was near death when I got it, and has survived much harsh treatment. The last couple of years it has spent most of its time in the garage under a couple full spectrum compact fluorescent lights...
