How would you style/develop this Hinoki?

A quick update to this Hinoki. I got it into a pot this spring. Other than that, I have not done too much other than some work on the foliage.

    Broom-style Zelkova

Hi All, I picked up a Zelkova for a long term project. I would like to develop this into something similar to Ebihara's and am hoping to get the opinions from those of you who have developed zelkova. It looks like the tree gives us a couple different options for styling. It could make a tall...

New to Bonsai and I have a few questions I need clarified.

Hey Jered, welcome to bonsai! I was in your shoes a few years ago and really wanted to start out right and read and read and ask specific questions and I think that was very valuable. However, as I have learned more about bonsai I have realized that because bonsai sits at the intersection of...

    Craigslist Azalea

Thanks guys, it is kanuma on top, but most of the soil in the pot is boons mix. When I potted it up, I did not have any Kanuma on hand so I used boons mix. However, when I was watching Peter Warren on Bonsai Mirai recently, he said that a mix of akadama, pumice and lava rock is not your best...

    Craigslist Azalea

It has been a few months so I thought I would share a couple updated pictures with you all. The stump sat bare for about 6 weeks and then exploded with growth.

    My Trident Is In

FWIW, Walmart's bonsai stock is also sourced and shipped from Brussel's bonsai and is usually a couple of dollars cheaper than Brussel's has them listed. For example, that trident is listed for $22.72 right now on walmart: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Trident-Maple-Bonsai-Tree/38363078

    Pondering a purchase...

FWIW, I was watching a video with Arthur Joura, the bonsai curator of the North Carolina Arboretum, and he mentioned that ginkio's are one of the slowest species to heal over wounds and will likely never heal over big wounds.

    Literati Spruce

I got this black hills spruce from Andy Smith's burlap bonanza sales. He said it was collected last October and estimated it was 60 years old. It seems to be pushing lots of new buds, I am excited to see how it does recovering this year.

How would you style/develop this Hinoki?

I picked up this hinoki in the fall of 2015. The guy I got it from said that he had dug it from a neighbors yard 3 or 4 years before that. It was in a plastic tub when I got it and I was hoping to leave it for another year and work on the top but the plastic was deteriorating so badly that I had...

    Craigslist Azalea

Hi, All. I am starting a thread for this azalea that I got on craigslist. Someone had dug up several of them and were giving them away for free. I only had the opportunity to take one but I grabbed the biggest one there. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures of it before I started working on...

    Old Shohin JBP

Thanks, Lance and Augustine. I have given it two light treatments of organic fertilizer since I got it and had read that weak jbp can be fertilized all year round. I am planning to make some pellets, I had recently seen the thread for boons fertilizer mix on here.

    Old Shohin JBP

Thanks! I got it on ebay. I believe it came from the estate of someone who passed away, the seller had several nice shohin trees for a short amount of time.

    Old Shohin JBP

I picked up this JBP on ebay last summer. Originally it was in a square pot but was broken upon arrival. The pot it is in now is one I had on hand at the time. Theoretically, I think it could sit alone on the rock without the pot. But there is a crevice in the rock (I tried to pull away the moss...
