The base/nebari is huge. I may struggle putting into a bonsai pot in the future

I left many future sacrifice branches on so I can decide a design later on..assume it survives.

I was pretty surprised that I was able to get this air layer to root. Next challenge will be getting it to survive. I wonder if I should reduce some of the foliage?

I also started an experimental airlayer on this pine a few seasons back, I think I may has finally produced roots.

I still haven't selected a new leader

Time has got away from me lately and I was thinking I should probably cut the main leader off of this and start to repot this into smaller containers. Any tips & advice. My plan was to cut 50% of the root ball and remove the sacrifice branch.

Every air layer I've attempted has just healed over. Hence why I just do cutting now. Sit then in water year round. The following season they are rooted and ready to do what you would like with.

I've had 100% success rate with cuttings of any size. I just put them in water and they eventually root.

I'd imagine you could make a fairly lightweight slab with a solid wire frame "painted" with cement?

Not sure if I'll finish this one off. I do need some new pots for next spring. I plan to make some shallow pots for my ficus's

Starting this thread to track the progress of this long term project. I was recently cleaning up my yard. I realised I had 4 diferent pots of tigerbark cuttings from the last year. Why not consolidate them into one pot and free up some space. Over the next year I plan to cut the cuttings in...
