What is wrong with this forum????

Vance, I don’t know you nor did I read the other thread but after reading that quote I feel inclined to say this. There are thousands of Gods on this planet, which I assume you don’t believe in, but because I choose to not believe in 1 more God than you it makes me a bad person?

    Watering in fall

I would say a tropical could stand to be watered more frequently but I think watering depends how well ramified any given tree is. I live in inland Southern California which is much hotter than Oakland and I have a ficus in similar soil that gets watered once a day when it’s around 95 deg...

    Watering in fall

It would help to know if this tree were a conifer, deciduous etc…… Dig down a bit and when it is starting to dry is when you should water. When it’s hot that might be every day, but cool overcast weather that might be closer to a week, or more….

    Shohin Olive

I removed the 2 larger branches on the left side, one a couple months ago and the other today to make room for the smaller shoots. Applied a little wire and trimmed back the longer shoots to length. This plant is growing well this year, maybe because I’ve remembered to fertilize somewhat...

    My large pomegranate

I should have elaborated more on the wood blocks. I used two separate pieces that were cut to the right size to hold the tree into position, and they do rest on the bottom or side of the pot. Then I wired the tree down as normal to the pot from the drainage holes. The whole setup is secure and...

    My large pomegranate

Thanks for the reply, Don. You might be right, I can always change the angle next time once it has enough roots to support itself.

    Shohin Olive

I plan to remove these 2 larger branches on the top left in favor of the 2 small shoots just above. Once the small shoots get a little larger. As well as a general cut back once it gets a little warmer here, not that it gets very cold!

    Shohin Olive

Here is my olive tree I have been working on for a couple of years, I have had it for 4 or 5 years now. This olive is very slow growing in my garden, but otherwise healthy. It stands about 7 inches and is a mother/daughter twin trunk, which the smaller trunk is hiding/protected by the larger...

    My large pomegranate

The bottom "branch" will be carved at some point, but for now I let the shoots on it run to keep the tree healthy and to produce more roots.....

    My large pomegranate

I was able to find a appropriate sized pot,in my price range, at House of Bonsai. Over the last 2 years the tree leaned over from it's own weight, but I liked the angle so that is the direction I'm headed with this. I didn't have to trim any roots, but I did have to cut a couple pieces of 2x4 to...

    My large pomegranate

Here is a look at the tree 2 years on.... The picture looking up at the bottom shows where I was able to remove all the sand up to the trunk. @bonhe rooted this as a cutting in sand. Only 1 root was going through this area.

    My pomegranate collection

That Is a nice color flower, if you strike any cuttings from it I would take a couple from you. The large cutting you sold me a few years ago is doing well, I might put it in a pot next year if I can find one large enough at a decent price....

    Willow Leaf Ficus

I tried my best to follow Scott's advice from his thread, which is really helpful. I started by cleaning out (spider webs, really bad this year) old leaves and cut backs to interior growth. Applied wire and moved the branches around to let light in hopefully resulting in back budding. There are...

    Willow Leaf Ficus

I picked up this tree sometime in '17 in a 1 gal nursery pot. I repotted this last summer and it responded ok despite having few roots from the peat heavy mix it was in. I wired a couple branches and have been trimming back to interior shoots when possible. Since its nice and warm now this...

Mr.E's six year Japanese Black Pine contest entry

A update on these black pine I planted last year. I did not afford the time to repot any of the black pines this spring to get the roots sorted out. So I hope they're not too much of a mess next year. First pictures are the cuttings the "mikawa" in the black pots. All the others in the larger...
