    Is this a Juniperus Procumbens?

Hello! Here in Brazil we call it Juniperus horizontalis ("Jacaré") Different from J. procumbens nana, the foliage is different! Also, the procumbens nana tends to form scale foliage in some spots while the J. horizontalis never does, is always spiky. I have them 2 and they are completely...

    A silly grafting idea

IIRC Nigel Saunders from Youtube has a Grafted ficus with the same idea. He took a small ficus and put on top of a larger base.. Worth to check out on it to satisfy your curiosity

    Chi Chi Ginkgo oh my!

I like it very much, congratulations on the evolution of your gingko! I am growing a stick myself but nothing worth showing yet! Do you plan on dealing with the 'trifurcation' on the secondary trunk? I see its been there since the first photos of your tree and is already creating a bulge in...

    My Japanese Red Pine (Akamatsu)

Thanks for the feedback, guys! I'm definately keeping the lowest branch, I was wondering about the farthest branchlet on the first branch, the one that is almost cascading. The zigzag is very predictable as is but I guess this effect will be diminished once the apex and other branches get more...

    My Japanese Red Pine (Akamatsu)

With a high quality edition on the image.. a little more foliage on the top and without the branchlet on the right side.. I'm thinking the tree will look more balanced without the main branch flowing too far off what do you guys think?

thank you guys for your words! This plant has already been thinned and is ready to be styled, we are going to make a project for it before touching it! Thank you, Clicio! I'm hoping to do a good job on this bonsai and hopefully in 5-10 years time have it somewhat refined. Lets enjoy the...

I too like the trunkline and bark! Thank you! The first branch will be lowered with guy wires to break the parallel lines and proper positioning, Me and the bonsai professional whom I will partner with to work on it decided to make it the fisr branch also the main/directional branch, actually...

Oh yes sir! Plan on repotting in better soil! It has been sitting in this big pot for at least 6 years. Already planning on an adequate container, also! Here where I live we are in the middle/end of Fall. Current temperature is around 4C (39F) to 10C (50F).

Humm! Is it that much brittle than a JBP? I will keep that in mind! Got in touch with an bonsai professional locally and we are planning on working on this very soon! in a couple of weeks! Will update the thread with more pics and maybe videos of it as we go! I'm really anxious about making a...

    My Japanese Red Pine (Akamatsu)

Hello! I've been enjoying bonsai for a few years now and living in an apartment always with poor sunlight and little space restricted me to only get just a few (and small) trees. Recently I've been renting space in my local bonsai store so I could leave my trees there as I was worried some of...

Sorry for the delay in response! Its been a while but not much happened. I'm too deep in work stuff barely having time to dedicate to bonsai.. All I did from there was to repot in a pot, thread graft the first branch (the one in the left, i also pinned an aerial root that has grown from the...

Shohin Soft Tosho gets its first styling

Let me ask another question.. How does this tree differs from regular tosho? (Care, maintenance and styling) Do you treat it like a regular tosho? Does it responds the same way? I have one of these also but information on this species is not so readily found

A flowering cherry I'm rebuilding. Only had 3 straight branches and was very weak amd potbound. Repotted and regained strenght over the last year so now I hard pruned and expect some backbuds and new shoots to give it some movement. Still unsure on the tree's style.. its a white canvas
