Curious about Bonsai, but unsure where to start.

I am in Gwinnett county. I would highly recommend taking a ride up to Plant City Bonsai in Clermont, Georgia. Steve is a great guy and has a great deal of stuff to start with. They have classes up there a couple times a year. They are having a beginners Bonsai class in the end of June. Look up...

    Sharps Pygmy

I am pretty excited about the tree! I always wanted a bigger maple with a good root base. I hope it pulls through and goes back to its thick dense canopy. I will put up a picture tomorrow when it is daytime.

    Sharps Pygmy

MACH5 Thanks for the tip. The tree was super dense when I got it and I think the overhead water didnt help. I can get ahead of it next year now that I know.

    Sharps Pygmy

I bought a Sharps Pygmy Japanese Maple Bonsai on its own roots from Brussels! When I received the tree it looked as though it had powdery mildew from overhead water. I removed the worst leaves and the tree started to back bud like crazy. The tree is looking better but after a lot of rain lately...

    Let grow... And cut back

The leaves do cover up the amazing ramification in that little tree! Ramification is its best feature!

    Cork Bark Elm

I have a Cork Bark Elm that I have had for about a year. It has good ramification and branch structure. The issue I am having with the tree is the branches start way to far up the tree. I was wanting to air layer off the top. My question is do you treat it the same way as any other even though...

    Shohin from Schley's

Nice tree! I love Shohin trees. I have the same problem with OCD and going through phases buying up stuff. I had a huge collection of coins and lost interest and sold all of them and moved on to reef aquariums!

    first bonsai

Looks like you done a good job for your first time! I would use a thicker wire made for Bonsai so it doesn't cut into the trunk. Its all down hill from here, you will have 20 trees in no time.

    New Elm for my collection

I pulled the trigger today on a new Chinese Elm. I had been looking at three similar trees for a while at a bonsai nursery near me. I'm going to really enjoy this tree. It needs a re potting next spring. What do you guys think?
