    Tree never leafed out

I don't have any other elms, our local elms just leafed out a couple weeks ago. They were the last to leaf out here, along with the oaks. Have you done any fertilizer or pruning? I was wondering if these things would entice it to leaf out lol This was collected a few years ago, it was all well...

    Tree never leafed out

Here are a couple pics of the tree. Last year this tree was set up for ground layer, so I was planning on separating and potting them up whenever the tree did or does start to leaf out Obviously the tree was just let to grow wild while I let let ground layer take. So pruning is another...

    Tree never leafed out

Hey guys, I have an elm tree that sat on my bench all year and over winter... even during the Artic Blast which saw us hit a week of temperatures of single digits and below.... Now the tree still hasn't leafed out. It scratches green everywhere, but just no or little bud movement. Any ideas?

    Maple Identification Help please...

Roger that. I think there is a consensus. From this day forward, this shall be a Silver Maple. Do you guys think its to late to chop those trunks?

    Maple Identification Help please...

Thank you everyone. Another question, I basically cut the trunk in half for transportation purposes. I really want to clean up the look a bit. Eliminate that 3rd little trunk. Possibly hopefully even chop the trunk again... I know I probably should've just chopped it lower at collection...

    Maple Identification Help please...

Pulled this out of someone's landscape. They say it was grown from seed many years ago. I asked what kind of maple, and the lady replied, "the beautiful kind"... so with that I dug it up and took it home. Can someone please help me. Here are a few pictures. I hope these pics show...

    Oak not breaking dormancy?

I've been worried that my trees wouldn't snap out of dormancy also... don't fret to much about the bud movement. It'll happen if it's capable. These shots are from today. The first is an oak tree, if you look closely you can see the movement starting at the base of the buds. Here is an elm...

New Baby Maples Need to Layer

Anyone have a good idea of exactly how large of a container I should go with? I was thinking just slip potting these into a 5 gallon bucket or something with perlite, compost, and potting soil. Something to let the roots just run crazy... although the understock is Japanese maple, maybe I can...

New Baby Maples Need to Layer

Okay so I just picked up some maples, Arakawa, Sango Kaku, and Shin Deshojo. They are all in 1 gallon nursery pots. Im having some boxes built to grow these out roughly 15 inch squares, about 5 inches tall. These are all grafted, and I would like to get them onto their own roots ASAP. So...

Advice for achieving an instant "Old Oak" look?

@The Oak this seems to be right what you're looking for. https://www.bonsainut.com/threads/boxwood-for-sale.48628/#post-837580 EDIT: Sorry, I just realized it's for local pickup only.

Advice for achieving an instant "Old Oak" look?

Boxwoods look like good "oak bonsai".... until you see a good oak bonsai 🤷🏾‍♂️ But I agree. For what you're looking to achieve there are probably more desirable species than actual oaks

Texas BNutters selling Pre-Bonsai (DFW, Waco, Austin)

Hey all, I know this is probably not the correct place for this, so I apologize in advance. Next week the family and I will be traveling through Texas, DFW Area - Waco - Austin. Do we have any members who are looking to get rid of some material that's just sitting around or something Yes I...

    Freeze Damage

Thank you everyone for your responses. After taking everything into consideration, this is what I came up with lol This tree had fallen off the bench a time or two, so I'm sure the top layer of soil wasn't as adequate as it needed to be for the artic blast. But my JBP suffered some foliage...

    Freeze Damage

Hello everyone, hope all is well. As much of everyone in the US, the people here in Oklahoma got a good amount of snow and crazy record low temperatures. My Virginia Pine has since went brown in a lot of the foliage The tree is still scratching green There are still some smaller green...

Newbies - want to share your trees?

It's not readily available here either, which reminds me that I need to go to the hardware store and get some annealed before spring! I was an all copper kind of guy but now I'm getting into aluminum. They each have their own pros and cons

Newbies - want to share your trees?

Indeed they do. The wire just threw me off since there was not a ton of movement. The overall transformation is fantastic and I like it. Have you tried copper wire?

Newbies - want to share your trees?

I suggest putting that wire to use and bending those trunks so they aren't so straight

    What's wrong with my bonsai?

Probably an issue with the roots. These are outdoor trees, and while they may survive inside, they will not thrive they will ultimately die long before they actually "show" it. If you're looking for an indoor bonsai, you'll need a different species of tree. But even "indoor" bonsai would rather...

    BRT Fungus? Or not really?

Sorry for not being more specific guys. Here I've broken a newer picture down.... the post is in question to the purple circled area. Should I use vinegar since it sounds like neem oil won't work? What are they??? Should I be alarmed?? Look at the green spot the yellow arrow points to and...
