    Juniper style direction

yeah this tree sits in full sun and is doing ok with about 2 inches of pure DE it hasnt dried out enough to kill the juniper and it has gotten drier than usual a couple times. its the 115+ degree days that will dry it out fast so its good to water twice a day just to have some moisture overnight.

    Picked up a procum

scale foliage is the tight looking foliage you have at the tips usually happens when the tree is happy. The foliage you have at the bottom that is more open is what you will see a lot on procumbens and the scale foliage often opens up when stressed like after a root prune or repot.

    Contest Rules

You are very welcome. The reason I know is I looked all over for the articles and was able to read them finally. I also purchased the Master addition while I was looking. I believe the articles were translated from a Japanese article and the translation in the master book just seems better and...

    Contest Rules

As Bonsai Nut has said www.stonelantern.com has the Pine Master series book from Bonsai Today and I think it is a better translation and has more info than the magazine article found in Bonsai Today #12 and Bonsai Today #20.

Yeah I agree to a point. But for $10 and you support a great cause it wasn't a bad deal. And you have a head start of about 1 year since the whips are probably 1 year old maybe thicker than a pencil now that I think about it. Ill post a pic tonight if I can get home before the sun goes down...

You can also join the arbor day foundation and get the 10 free bald cypress for $10. I had good luck with the bald cypress I got from them. they come about 2ft tall whips(the diameter of a pencil) and now mine is about 4ft and a little over 1.5" at the base in about 8 months. All I did was put...

    Bonsai Dying.. Help!

let the soil dry before watering. the soil you are using looks like it retains a lot of water and that is not necessarily great for a bougie. It is best to pot in a well draining soil(i have some in straight pumice) At this point I wouldnt mess with again until spring so just be careful not to...

    Alternative to cut paste??

You could always copy and paste and if you dont want what you copied just delete it. but I think Cut and paste is easier it eliminates that extra step of deleting the unwanted text. Oh cut paste not cut and paste...... I forgot this is my Bonsai forums never-mind. But I do like @Walter Pall...

Is it OK to keep bald cypress in water?

Drill some holes around your tray just below soil level or place the pot on a stand in the water to keep it at the correct level and just add a drain to the bottom. every few days drain the water into a can and go water a yard tree

Is it OK to keep bald cypress in water?

Had mine in water all summer just empty the bowl every 2-3 or so days and all is good. you could also use a small fish pump to aerate the water and get some gamboozies (mosquito fish) ,its a small minnow type fish that is used to eat mosquito larvae in ponds and such. and then the fish would...
