semi cascade or cascade seems indeed fit for this kind of pot. As for plant material pines go well with this kind of color or Acer griseum (red barked maple) or a reddisch bark typed prunus. greets jona.

After you're done picking flowers I would also do some branch trimming to get a bit more air ventilation to the inner parts of the plant (helps prevent diseases), so cutting all downward growing branches and from the new shoots keep 2 shoots 2 leaves from the 3-5 that normally shoot. greets jona

voted satsuki. Used to do all kinds but now I'm going to focus on 2 main species namely satsuki's and maples.

I kinda agree with rockm on this one. Looks to me like it's a 2-3 year old seedling/cutting (probably P7 container). So I would also put it in the ground for a couple of years to build up some trunkbody and develop some nebari. I would let the right side top branch grow wild (1st pic) and then...
