    Bald cypress advice

For starters, angle ur cut with a good leader.. Get rid if that flat cut, because water will sit on top and rot it out.. Feed it and let it grow out for a couple of years Don H

    Kiyohime advice..

I defoliated all the crispies, built it a little home that invites all morning sun and dismisses most of the sun after that.. Now I will wait.. Rock, I'm sure our weather is fairly similar and if I'm right our night time temps can very atleast 20 degrees from night to night moreso in July...

    Kiyohime advice..

It's possible that it's fungal.. Only some of my tridents have had minor windburn.. The only other thing is that I did a lot of pruning right out of the box.. It does have a lot of buds popping and leaves opening up so I don't think I can re-pot right now..

    Kiyohime advice..

I am not really impressed with the soil that this tree came potted in, and there were some grubs.. So since the tree was in full leaf I merely loosened some of the soil on top, let it fall out then refilled with lava and crushed granite.. The stuff on top is just a pine bark and soil that I am...

    Kiyohime advice..

I have been doing this for 3 years now, and I have about 20 bonsai.. I have anything from Shohin to trees that are about 25".. I have acquired 4 trees in the middle of last winter that were dying because the owner tried to keep them indoors.. I kept all 4 alive and they are now thriving.. To...

    Kiyohime advice..

Sorry guy's.. When u start talkin that measurment stuff, u really are speakin a foreign language to me.. I think between shipping from Cali, to me thinning this guy out tremendously right out of the box just damaged it a little.. However he is backbudding well.. I think he just had to acclimate...

    My big project Trident..

Ok, without bein able to put this tree in the ground or graft, how would I feed this trident to get optimal new branching? It is backbudding like crazy.. As far as grafting, if I could get a hold of a trident to use for branching would grafting be a good idea? Or would you just try to grow...

    Frequency of fertilizing

True Story: I grilled a ribeye the other day, and I still had a maple and a hornbeam sitting in the kitchen after trimming them up.. I walked away for one second.. Let's just say I ended up eating mcdonalds for dinner.. :D:D

    Frequency of fertilizing

I use miracle grow 10-10-10 every other week early spring with some fish emulsion and miracid.. Late spring to mid to late summer I use the 10-10-10 weekly, and plentifully.. Black Pines and other conifers seemed to like the bio-gold the most.. The "D" trees like spam or anything u will feed...

    My big project Trident..

I chopped below the reverse taper and shortened the branches.. Why? Maybe I'm a little crazy? Let's see how bulletproof these guys are.. If it dies, I'm out a few bucks.. If it lives it will be an awesome tree.. Either way I'm learning some kind of lesson.. LMAO!! :D I'll keep u posted...

Whatb kind of maple? Good for bonsai?

I do have seeds.. The trees are 15 feet tall.. I think krogers would definitely frown on a midnight dig.. ;) I will plant them anyway.. What the hell? If nothing else I can practice and learn from them.. Thank's, Don H.

Hey rock, when u say the left knot of branches do u mean the bottom left?

    My big project Trident..

It is a bit of an optical illusion.. it's not bad when u see the tree in person.. I will address it after it grows out a little.. I don't wanna shorten this tree anymore, so I may have to do a little grinding..

Whatb kind of maple? Good for bonsai?

What kind of maple? Good for bonsai? I found these maples outside a local grocery store, and noticed the leaves were relatively small.. There were tons of fresh seeds so I grabbed some.. I put some silver maple seeds in foam cups and they are growing like crazy, but we know their no good for...

    Kiyohime advice..

I will try in a bit.. It's not much to look at right now as it was grown out really bushy with the previous owner and I have thinned it out a lot to do some wiring and promote some backbudding and to get some branches where I want them.. I am going out here soon to make a portfolio of my...

    Kiyohime advice..

Ok, so I have a small shohin Kiyohime Maple that I have recently acquired and I have some cool plans for this guy.. I know they very much like to grow horizontally so I am just going to go with that.. My question is how temperamental are they? Mine seems to hate wind and doesn't like the sun...
