    YAMADORI COLORADO SPRUCE

Thanks for sharing, it came out great Serg. Now this has me wanting to add a spruce to my collection as well. I love deciduous trees for what they give us with changing of the seasons. However it's something to have a few powerful evergreens around. I'm leaning towards more conifers now to...

    One of my favorite pots

Nice pots Dave. You beat me on the blue Koyo, I was eying that one but couldn't swing both as I just bought this large Koyo. I was torn between the two. Keep me in mind if you ever decide to part with it. Thanks a lot!

    NOT SHOHIN...

I have Japanese maple grove I picked up last year that maybe has 500 or so in it. I bought it for the far perspective of a distant forest. I just repotted it last week. It puts on a great Fall show because of all the different trees. Many ranges in color. Looking forward to the future...

    Collected Hawthorn History

I had the great fortune of seeing this tree in 2014 at nationals. I think you made some hard decisions and gutsy moves, but in the end it will be an even greater tree. No guts, no glory. Good move, and I think you will be happy with the results in the end Brian. Keep us posted, this is one of my...

    Black Titi All Dressed Up

Great story thanks for sharing Eli! Love the pot and that tree is going to be a fun project for years to come. Art for Art, love it. It was nice talking to you the other night, if I make it to Ashville this year I'll make sure to stop by your booth and say hi. Chris

1st wild collection, need advice please

This is pretty funny, I was out collecting American Hornbeams on Sunday too. I ended up with two. Once home I barrooted and potted up in concrete tubs. As you can see in the attached pics I left them really tall to account for dieback. American hornbeams tend to do this once trunk chopped. Also...

Ponderosa Pine Rocky Mountains/ SE US?

Hey sounds like a plan and one heck of a cool road trip. I appreciate the consideration, and can relate to you. I turn 40 this year, and Chuhin and shohin may be in my future my friend. Matthew's bonsai collection and pot's are enough to make your head spin in person. I go out a few times a year...

Ponderosa Pine Rocky Mountains/ SE US?

And Dave as a side note, if you ever decide to sell your wonderful old RMJ, I have space for it on my benches. Please keep me in mind, and put my name on the list I'm sure you have of potential buyers.

    My Bald Cypress

As stated the pot is way too large for your tree. I just recently potted a collected cypress in the same size tub. You see the size of tree that would make it appropriate. Also I suggest you use heavy soil to help the first year. I used potting soil with aggregate to help split roots. Good luck...

    Texas Shohin Bald Cypress

Mark I want to say this tree looks familiar. I think possibly it was owned by Guy at one point, I saw it on his website. I could be wrong though. Keep us posted, nice addition to your collection.

    ICE ICE BABY!

Amazing pictures Serg. Love the contrast between the ice against the night sky. Really highlights the tree's structures too.

    Nature's Way PA

Natures way is a great place to go for both workshops and Yamadori tree's. Also they have a nice selection of pots. Jim is a great guy and I have bought many trees and pots from him over the years. Last time I took a workshop I worked with the likes of Peter Warren and Minoru Akiyama on a Yew of...

    Demon Feet

Hello Jeremiah! I love pots with unique feet, and try and buy them when I can. I have a cool first generation Yamaaki with Demon feet and an Izumi Ya with not quite demon feet, but a cool little mean face on all three feet. I just missed a nice demon feet pot this past auction cycle on Facebook...

    Chop suggestions for Acer Rubrum

Here are a few things I've picked up in my brief time working with one. They don't take trunk chopping well, expect to see some die back maybe. My friend in Louisiana gifted me one a couple years ago, so I've been building branch structure. The branches are brittle and not the easiest to wire...

    stewertia monadelpha

It works trust me. Trees get lazy over time and will heal only to a certain extent. That's why I've found that at least once a season you need to score the cambium where it stopped and re apply cut paste. Try it this season, you will see results. I use this technique on all my trees, even fast...
