    A clever composition

I too love the composition in the original deep pot. Traditional and rule bound it ain't but it works and that is a sign of good execution. I love it. I think in some way the pot has become part of the mountain, the colour and shape lend well to this.

Growing runks for Mame/Shohin sized Azaleas?

Attila, thanks for this very useful explanation of the growing of Azaleas. It has helped to explain what I have observed from my ignorant tamperings with a couple of ordinary dwarf azaleas I picked up in a garden centre. All the ones I found were shrubby with multiple trunks, and since I had...

Growing runks for Mame/Shohin sized Azaleas?

Come on Attila, spill the beans. You have piqued our interest, now you can let us in on this.:D

Anyone attending the BSF 2008 event?

You guys wanna try paying £1.15 or more per Litre, yes, per litre, here in England. It costs me over £60 to fill the tank of my ordinary little Ford Focus. Most of it is damned government taxes here, but is is going to start impacting in all sorts of areas involving travel.

That is really effective, good job on finding a different take on the monkey pole idea.

The Bonsai Art of Kimura 2

I dont know if any of them are in print or available in the US or here in England but I found a bonsai book-listing site last night which includes ISBN numbers for various books by Mr Gun, and obviously other bonsai authors. I have a shortcut to the site and a birthday in June, so here's hoping...

    My Radiata

Will, That is an intriguing point you made. I am not doubting what you say, merely thinking around the implications of it. So the gravity/nutients thing is the main/only natural determinant factor in a tree's lifespan, (assuming none of the deleterious ones you mentioned). This raises a number...

    Pond Basket???

I have the opposite problem. I usually work at home and have to tear myself away to do some work once in a while. Luckily I share a flat panel between my work and home computers so I can switch between with two clicks of the keyboard.

    Design Time

Very striking tree, and a nice result with the aerial root, especially once it's jinned. However, glass-houses and stones spring to mind with regard to your last post...:D

JBP to cut or not to cut.....

I prefer pic 3 but it might be improved by better separation between the middle pad and the top one. Is that feasible? guess it depends on where it comes off the trunk, which is not clear from the pics.

    squirrels!

Yeah I once collected and planted up over eighty acorns with a view to growing lots of oaks for a forest planting, but in my niaivity I failed to cover the seed trays with armour plating. The squirrels had every one of the acorns away within two days. Later I secured a few potted-up acorns...

    Some thing strange

"tools"......"internet options"...."delete cookies" or similar, depending on which OS you are using. It's often a good idea to empty out your temporary files at the same time IMHO.

Peoples Choice Award Wisteria & Pot

In which case my appologies, it's the old limitations of the photo issue, I lost any idea of the scale overall. I did love the crescent combination with the tree though.

    Chinese Elm

I love the way the dead and the living parts of this tree intertwine and sort of dance together. A harmonious combination. Nice one grouper52.

Peoples Choice Award Wisteria & Pot

I voted for Dale Cochoy, on pot 15, though his other one is very attractive too. I love the texture, colour and everything about that pot in entry 15. It's a shame no one makes em like that, unless you can pay a lot of money for a one-off. The definition of harmony IMHO. Irene's entry came a...

    recent firing

Very nice pots Boondock. Especialy the right hand one in the first post and the last one above. I love the texture too. It inspires me to pursuade my sister in law to help me make some. She is a ceramic artist but doesn't tend to make pots at all, (at the moment), she is more into one-off art...

    Hornbeam yamadori

Behr, thanks for that photo sequence, that is a new technique to me, which I could see being very useful. One question though. Your term "Gorilla glue" may not translate here in the UK. Is it synonymous with "Gorilla Snot", a term I have heard used here by mechanics to refer to either gasket...

    Cannabis Bonsai

The only bonsai where making a hash of the styling would be a positive result. I guess a stovepipe trunk would be a positive advantage It should surely be displayed in a "Toke"-anoma :D
