You should have seen it when it was leafless. 👀

    Mugo Pine Progression

Thank you... The tree is about 60 years old. So the bark was pretty special when I got it. 😁

Bonsai Anniversary - 5 years in review

David helped me repot it that year as well. He's a nutter too. 💜

Bonsai Anniversary - 5 years in review

Oh my.... Next year is 20 years. So so much has gone on.... This will be worthy of a retrospective for me. Somewhere in the garden Eric keeps my first tree alive. It's such a disaster... But so so so much beauty also.... Or else how would I have done this.... And with loving friends and students...

    Bonsai Bench

Well 14 years later.... Zomg is been a long time since I had such a dainty bench. 😂

    Bougainvillea In Bloom

Lesson for all in this one... No tree will survive drowning. We had left this one in the pot since we got married. It had only one drain hole and was failing. We resurrected it with two tiny roots left on it... Well, Eric and Gerry (the much loved Issho-en apprentice did).... I was gone that...

Grafting RMJ with Shimpaku (IMBEDDED PHOTOS)

Holy Moly.... I think the boys were working on this one there other night 😅 the left side died... And Daniel removed it because it detached. I thought it was this tree, but I'm sure of it now. 💜💜💜

    Tsukumo Cypress *pink face*

Oh wow long time from a post for this also... This tree yanks Eric's chain sometimes.... Because it's kind of emblematic of my classical nature..... BUT it's also seductive to people. Lol it is not gnarly... It's just an old beautiful bird. And I will never let it out of the garden. Lol people...

    Japanese Larch

Thank you dear. I got nostalgic after the loss of Andy... So I wanted to come back to an early space in my bonsai life 🥰 just to hug friends. **Hugging you**

    Japanese Larch

One more update.... A decade does a lot. This tree experienced branch loss which happens on larches. I had to completely reorient the tree in the opposite direction.

Kashirahoma no tatsumaki - Ponderosa Pine

Another long lapse... A video from when it went to Nationals in 2021. Ponderosa Pine

    Mugo Pine Progression

In the apprentice's garden, a very sweet moment for me. 🥹 Need to bring my camera on a nice day to get better bokeh.

    Mugo Pine Progression

Golly..... Ten years is a long time for an update, but here it is anyhow. This summer, I actually sold it to my apprentice who really wanted an Issho-en tree in his collection. I miss it, but am learning to let them go. 🫣 In these photos she badly needed thinning. But still lovely.

    Stone Monkey

I'm just sad. I can't remember a time I didn't know him in my bonsai life.... Kinda like you rock.... Just wanting to hug old friends today a little tighter and a little more lovingly. Love you brother.... V

    Does this yew look healthy?

Gail, Please be advised, yew is toxic when ingested. I always picked up any clippings and washed thoroughly after. It's especially toxic for horses. Kindly, Victrinia

    2016 US National Bonsai Exhibition

Oh no.... It's a bad as you say. Horrific even.... But beautiful in its own way and very very Daniel. Lol

    2016 US National Bonsai Exhibition

Dan's tree is a Mountain Hemlock. The stand worked fine because Daniel knows its limits... I was dubious myself at first, but that man could balance an elephant on a pin. Which is about what that must have felt like for you. I'll post a photo of it when I can get my phone to cooperate.

    The best water wand?

Been super busy doing a lot of non-profit work... Volunteering at the Pacific Bonsai Museum... And more stuff than I can relate lol.... Nice to be seen. Just taught some classes for the Olympus Bonsai Club... That was great fun!

    The best water wand?

The valve I use is just a solid brass ball valve. I don't have fitting issues with the ones I have. It is the perfect tool for the job frankly. :) Kindly, Victrinia

    Artisans Cup selections

Cadillactaste...... yes.... you read correctly. Randy supplies much of the material that gets worked on by Ryan - so yes they are closely connected.... and to be probably 1/3 of the trees in the show were styled by Ryan anyway. So the probability that his work would win was over the top. That he...
