Oh wow long time from a post for this also... This tree yanks Eric's chain sometimes.... Because it's kind of emblematic of my classical nature..... BUT it's also seductive to people. Lol it is not gnarly... It's just an old beautiful bird. And I will never let it out of the garden. Lol people...

One more update.... A decade does a lot. This tree experienced branch loss which happens on larches. I had to completely reorient the tree in the opposite direction.

Golly..... Ten years is a long time for an update, but here it is anyhow. This summer, I actually sold it to my apprentice who really wanted an Issho-en tree in his collection. I miss it, but am learning to let them go. 🫣 In these photos she badly needed thinning. But still lovely.

Gail, Please be advised, yew is toxic when ingested. I always picked up any clippings and washed thoroughly after. It's especially toxic for horses. Kindly, Victrinia

Dan's tree is a Mountain Hemlock. The stand worked fine because Daniel knows its limits... I was dubious myself at first, but that man could balance an elephant on a pin. Which is about what that must have felt like for you. I'll post a photo of it when I can get my phone to cooperate.

Been super busy doing a lot of non-profit work... Volunteering at the Pacific Bonsai Museum... And more stuff than I can relate lol.... Nice to be seen. Just taught some classes for the Olympus Bonsai Club... That was great fun!

The valve I use is just a solid brass ball valve. I don't have fitting issues with the ones I have. It is the perfect tool for the job frankly. :) Kindly, Victrinia
