    Procumbens Juniper Progress

Thanks a million for the virt. advice and encouragement Rob, I think you've brought out an excellent solution. I kept seeing this smaller tree with a huge canopy and was brain-locked on a solution. Any advice on how to handle the foliage on a procumbens?? I keep feeling I'm 2-3 steps behind...

    Procumbens Juniper Progress

Here's a short procumbens progression over about 8 mos. Just a simple garden variety purchased for cheap and its been a very healthy one so far. I'm not sure how well or poorly I'm tackling the foliage; it seems to get out of hand fairly quickly on this type and I'm not really sure what equates...

    Preferred Spider Mite Spray...

I've never immersed them for that long. I sink them until what is crawling floats to the top and then skim them off, usually 10-15 min. I've had a grub come flying out from inside a pot like a bat out of hell once the bubbles stopped rising.

    Preferred Spider Mite Spray...

I've had spider mite issues with junipers and usually what I've done is use a hard blast of water from a garden hose. I'll take each branch individually in the palm of my hand to brace it and spray all sides; that's worked for me. With small deciduous trees, I usually have an aphid issue...

    Who are the BNut moderators?

Vance, Does Will still participate in the bonsai online community? Reason I ask is that I remember reading quite a bit of his work/research on bonsai and he possesses a wealth of information and truly enjoyable reading.

    Nice trunk, little else... suggestions?

Mind you I'm not familiar with the species, but would you be able to work the larger trunk down until it's par with the shorter and then re-make the whole tree from a much larger base?

    Mina: Slayer of Trees

Mina, if I were you I'd first and foremost stick with species that will thrive where you live; you have a number of really good options of choosing bonsai material that's right at home in Colorado. We've all killed our share of trees, that's just part of the learning curve and an unfortunate...

Unconventional Display in a conventional setting

Eric, I don't know what to make of it:confused: It's definitely one of the most interesting displays and holds my attention, while simultaneously threatening a migraine:D Maybe if the non-colored portions of the wood had a little deeper shade to it-sort of brownish perhaps?

    To Shari or not??

It doesn't look like a shari would "fit" with the overall composition of the tree.

Plastic Rope and Crazy Cut Paste from Peter Tea's Blog

The closest material that I use is radiator hose tape. It doesn't have an adhesive backing, very tough, and stretches well. You can pick this up pretty cheap at any automotive store.

    Plant city bonsai...superb packaging

Yep, I'd agree with Chris regarding Brent Walston. I'd also add into the short list of outstanding vendors Chris Kirk and Andrew Smith, both have an outstanding variety and quality of materials as well as exceptional care in their packaging.
