    Greetings - Bonsai Newbie

Looking forward to making the next meeting! That is just top dressing. The tree is planted in "Boon's Mix" soil.

    Frequency of fertilizing

Formulation: 24-8-16 Isn't this bad? Pretty much everything I've ever read says that a balanced fertilizer should be used.

    Frequency of fertilizing

Thanks for your previous comment as well. I'm still a bonsai newb and general gardening idiot. Thus far, my limited knowledge has been gathered from reading and not experience. This particular fertilizer was recommended by a couple online sources, so I gave it a whirl. Mostly, and this is...

    Frequency of fertilizing

I've been using the Fujiyama Combo from Dallas Bonsai. This is a 5:10:5 liquid fertilizer and root stimulant (used every 2 weeks) and so far it has been working well.

Marco Invernizzi's new tool - "Ichiban"

Just so I am clear on your point...It is perfectly acceptable for the many people in this thread to criticize and bash this product when none of them have used/seen/held it in person? Yet my credibility gets called into question when I rise up to defend it? Sorry...foul ball. The only fact...

Marco Invernizzi's new tool - "Ichiban"

I don't know, why would you? I'm not really sure why you're attempting making a point of this at all. New products generally aren't marketed towards people who already own an equivalent. If you're asking my why you should buy an Ichiban, I don't have a reply for you. Full disclosure? My...

Marco Invernizzi's new tool - "Ichiban"

Ah, dear Victrinia...just the person I was hoping for a reply from. :) My initial response in the other thread was about the NBW marketing campaign specifically, not the tool itself. I have come 180 degrees on how I feel about the pricing of the tool, however. I'm no different than anyone...

Yup, you're right...fixed. Damn decimal point.

Marco Invernizzi's new tool - "Ichiban"

Right. It makes perfect sense that I now have a job after making one post on an internet forum. I suppose I was also involved with the fake moon landing conspiracy and was the 2nd gunman on the grassy knoll. You guys need to get out more. rockm brings up a few good points...

Marco Invernizzi's new tool - "Ichiban"

This thread makes me LOL. First and foremost, $350 is not a lot of money by anyone's standards in the United States. No one reading these forums is impoverished. The main objection about price is incorrect, it is about value, which is subject to individual interpretation. The...

    Proper Etiquette

It's called "gratuity" for a reason. Tips are not required, nor are they considered part of normal wages. Most service industries can be very lucrative (valet parking, limo drivers, etc). So much so that competing businesses are often required to bid or provide concessions to the host...

Marco Invernizzi's new tool - "Ichiban"

The dispute is not about price, it's about value. There is a difference.

    Proper Etiquette

Anyone who works in a service-related industry (which is a major portion of most economies) is subject to receiving tips. We most commonly associate this with restaurant wait staff because they are the most visible, where it is customary to the point of being almost required to leave a 10% or...

Are you a Net Bonsai Wanker?

I'm actually a bit disappointed. He was just in Cincinnati, and had I known sooner, I would've made plans to go down there and check it out.

    Soil Moist

Just curious if anyone has ever tried this product for bonsai: Soil Moist. From their website: I heard the local gardening expert talking about this product on the radio. The caller was looking for a way for his plants to stay watered since he was frequently out of town on business. Soil...

Are you a Net Bonsai Wanker?

Interesting thread, on many levels. I am an internet marketer with degrees in marketing and e-commerce, and also a specialization in social media. This thread would make a very good case study for the results of net marketing and PR. Here are some observations from a casual onlooker: 1...

    Greetings - Bonsai Newbie

Cool...always great to meet another shutterbug! As for clubs, yes there is one in my area that seems to meet on a regular basis, the Columbus Bonsai Society. I'm hoping to go to the monthly meeting in a couple weeks and rub some elbows. Thanks for the offer on the JBP. I have a major...

Microsoft OneNote 2007 for Bonsai Journaling

I've been developing my own bonsai journal using OneNote. It's a great tool for keeping a lot of info in one place. It's very handy for integration with calendars and to do lists as well.

    Greetings - Bonsai Newbie

Thanks for the kind welcome! I enjoy photography as another hobby, and this was shot with a Sony Alpha a-350 DSLR. To address other concerns, yes, I am keeping the tree outside. The first day I brought it home it was kept indoors because it was about 25 degrees, but other than that one day...

    Greetings - Bonsai Newbie

Hello all, this is my first post here @ Bonsai Nut! I recently purchased my first bonsai, a 9 year old Juniper. I have been interested in bonsai for a long time, but due to a serious lack of green thumbs, never did anything for fear of killing the tree. After educating myself as best I can...
