Vitex Genus Misc. Posts and Info

One thing to be aware of is their need for LOTS of light. They won't do well indoors unless you have a crazy lighting system. They will drop leaves quickly without nearly full sun.

    Can a succulent be bonsai?

The essence of bonsai is emotional and the feelings the image evokes, mainly to the creator so while it’s not ready for any shows just yet, if it opened the door to this world for you and thus you have an emotional connection or feeling it brings you then for you, it’s bonsai. I’m finally after...

    Can a succulent be bonsai?

Everything we do in bonsai is about appearance... Appearance of age, appearance of size etc... So yeah if you can make a convincing image with it, you can and should use it if you want to. The debate raged back in the day but as I said Jim Smith was a bonsai legend... He had the final word on if...

    Can a succulent be bonsai?

The official answer is, it depends... some lend themselves to bonsai training better than others. Portulacaria afra for one gets rather woody and is an excellent candidate the late Jim Smith settled this debate many years ago. others that are succulent (ish) can be seen in the Bursera thread. So...

    bougainvillea emergency help please

Your biggest threat now is over watering... don't worry too much about dropping leaves, they do that under the best conditions sometimes. Don't over react just give it as much light as possible. Allow it to slightly dry before watering... It will likely be fine they are tough...

Kerf bending Spekboom and other experiments with Portulacaria afra

It seems there are many myths regarding Ports... #1 "You can’t water it more than once a month". The fact? It 100% depends on the ambient temp. When temps are over 100F I water at least daily. They love water and will grow like weeds. #2) "you can’t fertilize it" Fact: They are relatively heavy...
