Thanks for sharing Scott. Old drawings are always fun to look through.
I have over 850 paintings and sketches dating back to the 1600’s. I have some great Bonsai paintings I’ll post soon. Thanks for sharing Scott. Old drawings are always fun to look through.
Do you have and Shin Hanga you want to sell?FWIW, this is clearly a Japanese-made book of prints. This format is pretty common for prints circa early 20th century. All sorts of subject matter turns up in this format, from birds to landscapes. I've collected Japanese prints (primarily Shin Hanga) for years.
One of the better bonsai-related Shin Hanga images by Toshi YoshidaWhat are you looking for? Shin hanga covers a lot of territory--

Ahh!!! Thanks. So it actually may be just branches stuck in pots. A guide to some scams I see on eBay these days? You guys are nuts!
It’s an IKEBANA flower arranging book NOT bonsai. That’s why you don’t see any surface roots and those are not grow boxes but rather ceramic shallow trays.

I've bought from here:
https://www.castlefinearts.com/
And I've been to this place in NYC
https://www.roningallery.com/
both sell extremely good copies of most Shin Hanga artists.
I've also had some luck on ebay, but obviously, you have to know what you're looking at before you buy
