White light might be better. I have "grow lights" in my southern exposure, that look purple, and new LED lights in the eastern exposure that are pink. Probably a good thing I live in a very small town...
Heat spots happen when the lights are overpowered.
Most of the times with LED, CFL and neon, it doesn't happen easily.
I would personally lower the lights. LED loses some power over distance, and since heat production of the bulb is low, they can be placed pretty close to the plants for best results.
