I am sure you realize, but maybe some beginners might not: Seeds collected from A.p. 'arakawa' do not result in A.p. 'arakawa' seedlings. The seedlings MIGHT have rough bark, and some WILL have rough bark. However, to be the named cultivar 'arakawa' they need to be reproduced by layering or cuttings, as to preserve the original genetic makeup.

Yep, I figure they'll be nice specimens either way and the ones that get the rough bark will be a bonus. Supposedly takes a few years to show up though.

It could be interesting in a forest planting to get a mix. It could also be terribly distracting :( Hopefully you end up with enough to pull out any overly distracting ones. Keep as many as you can as long as you can since you won't know for years!

This is my first year of planting seeds and the BIGGEST lesson I learned is less seeds per flat😉
