Repotted into 1st training pot from a large plastic 'bowl'.

I recut the callous tissue that had stopped rolling over a chop scar. Wound covered with paste.

I bought this tree from a club member who started it from seed. I've had it for 3 years now.

It will go into the ground or a large, shallow grow box for the next 3-5 years.

Very nice and cool it was from seed as well. Curious why the grow box for so long.

The 2nd and 3rd movements in the trunk are soft, a thicker trunk will better suit the tree. The larger upper branches/trunks will be layered off, this will slow down the development.

Repotted into an Anderson flat:
This is a bit late to be repotting most deciduous trees in Santa Cruz, CA - but I'm basically slip-potting this tree into a grow box. The fine roots that had grown below the pumice drainage layer were raked out and cut with sharp scissors. Old soil was gently worked out of the top and sides of the root ball, then a small amount of the exposed roots were trimmed with sharp scissors.
The mix is basically 1:1:1 with a handful of charcoal & DG - This is the 1st year that I'll be using akadama in my homemade soil.
