Wow, thats dedication. I already had three, I did not need more, but I was in the land of plenty and all things bonsai.

The REBS show never dissapoints. Mostly I went just to look at trees, meet up with friends, and see what going on.

A little teaser, more trees on the blog later tomorrow.

First tree is a juniper styled by Peter Tea. $2400.00.

Peter trying to sell a guy on the virtues of a $2000.00 pot!

A Jim Gremel tree

A black pine for sale in the vendor room.

Well I'm glad you went, your photos are fab. Thanks for the look!
It's a cool pot, but I'd rather have the akadama :)

He had some pretty nice pots, didn't he. I bit out of my price range for sure! Thanks for showing some pics of the show, Al. I was there on Saturday but forgot my camera. I had my wife, 4 yr old, and 2 yr old in tow so it was a pretty cursory glance for sure! I hope to take some pics tonight when I go back to help break down the show.

I was there too. Great show as always. More trees on display than any other show I've been to. Everything from beginner trees in training to some of the finest trees anywhere. Took my 83 year old mom to show her what my hobby is all about
Saw you (Smoke) there when my mom walked between your camera and Frank's big juniper. What an awesome tree that is!
I'm excited about the antique pots Peter Tea is bringing in from Japan. Some real beauties! And this is just the beginning. Peter said he has a lot more coming. His pots are more $ than ordinary pots but actually less than I expected for antique Chinese pots.
Had a great day enjoying bonsai, catching up with old bonsai friends, and shopping in the vendor room. I controlled myself pretty well though; only bought some wire and a pot from JIm Gremel and some accent plants from Lone Pine.

Hard to miss me with EVENT SECURITY dayglo orange shirt on! Kathleen O'Donnel asked me If I might consider doing the security at the conevention in Sacramento next year? I told her it was a novelty T shirt. I still don't think she believed me.

That Jim Gremel tree is amazing. Just out of curiosity, was it for sale.

Rob

I'm of the persuasion that if I am not serious about buying something, and money is no object (which for me it isn't) I don't ask. I just buy it with my eyes and a beautiful memory.

.

But seriously, we do still need our event security committee chair........
No pressure, just sayin'.

recently there was some talk of a juniper that had some potential. Have not seen all the trunk or its branch structure, but there was some talk of the thing being in the price range of at least 3 to 5 thousand dollars and up to 10 to 15 thousand.

I don't know, before I spent 10 thou on a rug juniper I might spend some of that money on a trip ouit west and see what I could scrape up for a better price, cause there are better prices out here. Here are some pictures around the vendor room and what could be had for what, just in case some may dispute my opinion sometimes.

Here are a good group of some sierra junipers for sale. All these had some great trunks, though some were clunky, but the foliage was healthy and work could start soon.

You seen the black pine on the previous post last night, Muranaka also had this San Jose juniper that was killer. The picture does not do it justice. I had it aside for purchase and then put it back, in a moment of weakness not wishing to buy any more junipers for ever. The trunk was just shy of 3 inches and about 16 inches tall. Branches were very good for working over.

Hey Rob, I'm gonna venture a guess that since Jimmy Gremel had these trees in the vendor room that anything is for sale at the right price.

He always has a few twisty junipers for sale. No price, didn't ask, but around $1100.00 could probably seal the deal.

This hemlock has about 75 pounds of wire on it.

Stands?

Artofthediaza was there. My good friend Jerry Braswell. I took these pictures and of the price so you can see what stands are going for. This is why I trade material for them.

Oh, that white pine! I would love an early Bday present... what a tree.
So judging by your comment, you think the price it too - high?

I think he is referring to the guys who are pricing collected trees in $10,000 range. But I could be mistaken.
