At our club auction this year I picked up quite a few things including this Yew whcih I ended up paying five dollars for. It was collected two years ago and is still in the orginal dirt used from where it was collected.

It has been my experience with Yews that they back bud well and considering the lower twin trunks on this, I think there may be a bonsai in it somewhere.

Looks like a baccata Will, or a hybrid of it. My experience with yews is that dappled shade will produce best when you want back budding on older wood. Also pinching the needles similar to the procedure of pine needle plucking, then pinching the buds as they emerge in early spring will improve bud production. Good Luck with this.

Thanks Tom. I have always had good luck getting Yews to back bud, in fact I don't know how to stop them, lol. These trees are long and lanky know, but when I get the foliage down those lower trunks, I might have something to work with.
