I wasn’t even LOOKING for any trees! THEY FIND ME, I swear!

I noticed this White Spruce, with rootmass disturbed by recent trail “clearing”.. The girthy base and low/multiple branching options drew me to it, instantly.... i ended up cracking the top pretty good when the ol’ honda hatch slammed shut.. but i RE-injured it in a more attractive way.
I barely needed to use my spade, David, at ALL.

I guess THIS will be my last consideration as I am STILL DONE “seeking trees” this year... this one “sought” me! 🤣

No real design ideas in place.. just focusing on recovery.. but I DO, DEFINITELY have some ideas.

I had contacted the manager of THIS particular property in the late winter.. his words to me were, “Unless it’s significantly bigger than YOU, don’t bother me with it.”
Thanks, bud.

I forgot to get earlier spring pictures... dehrniht! ;)
All that was “done” in spring was some branch removal.. of branches that where quite clearly “On their way out”...
Yesterday..60EA0676-94F0-434C-99E6-DAE0402EDF5E.jpegFB785F51-0245-4C86-9A77-05B8280DEBE3.jpegD530C446-8CAE-4F4C-BDE8-77BABA7E6C7C.jpeg2D44971B-8B3D-42FF-B3F6-A572A2DBCB92.jpeg9C14F7A3-22BD-433E-BD76-9578DE37EAEF.jpeg

As this was just collected and spring.... and did not meet my “excessive vigor” standards for working trees soon after collection, I decided to just let ‘er ride...

End of season.. No new work.. it can sleep well.
In spring.. I will “return to plan”..

Removed one of the sacrifices that was shading out my intended "new tree" HAHA!

And plucked some ugly needles.. there's adventitious bud placement on that first branch/new leader area... so we will see what the season brings.

I didn't trim/prune anything on the remaining branches... not sure if I was SUPPOSED to...

At this point.. it didn't feel right...

Whoah!

It's been a WHILE!

I don't know where to start...

So I shall just post some pictures.

This spring, before prune/wire.

After prune/wire (with an alternate shot of branching)

Then, in the beginning of summer, wire was removed, and branches begin their re-bound. 🤓

Here it is, today.
