So...this is my first bonsai spring. (the world is much more beautiful from this perspective) After spending the last six months browsing the forums and reading the books I have aquired, I'm looking for a reasonaably attainable goal to be at in five years. I would like to have a tree good enough that I would be comfortable showing it in our clubs exhibit the year after this. (sept '10) and in 5 years have a 12' bench full of "show quality" trees. (local shows that is) Is this reasonable, am I shooting too low...what were your best trees five years in. Anything you would like to share would be interesting to hear. hope you are enjoying your spring.

-Dave

p.s. hope you southern hemisphere folks had a good growing season.

Ok, not much response to this one. Yet here we are 5 years later, nonetheless. Let's see how this big "plan" turned out.

stunning trees. i dont have much experience but those look show quality to me. Gives me hope as a noob. I cant wait to do a post similar to this in 5 years.

I attached a pic of my "sanity corner" I have 2 purchased junipers of different species, i dont know what kind, 1 big sage i collected, and a bunch of holly runners from a bush in my front yard i stuck in pots to see what happens. This collection began about 2 weeks ago. I think i may have a problem. ;)

Post number two, pic three... May I have it? Let me know! ;)

Love your trees, but that third one,... I'll need to get my ninja bonsai suit and take care of that for you.

Just some of my collection I wanted to post as a follow up to my original post. I had a goal and set out to achieve it.

Nice work, mission accomplished! I've been at it for longer, but I don't think any of mine are as nice as yours. Give my collected eastern hemlock another year to recover and a year to recover from it's first styling and I might have one in your league.

Hey Dave, good seeing you here again. Was nice meeting you in person at Nature's Way a year or two ago.

Great progress - your work with larches is fantastic. Also love your trident - one of the most natural looking trees posted on here.

Sorry you didn't get much response. Your trees are great and I would be happy to show them in our local clubs. Good job
