Any thoughts on how one would go about getting perfect 90-degree right angle bends in a trunk? Im thinking on say, a 1" thick ficus or deciduous tree.
I was thinking of a few options...
1. Wrap with raffia, wire with heavy copper, and go for the bend...
2. Cut a chunk out of the trunk or branch that when bent and joined together, would create a 90-degree bend... like, a mitre cut on a piece of moulding, but on a branch.
3. Wait for appropriately placed branches, and take a long time.
4. Grafts of sort?
Any examples of bonsai that use such right angle bends in the trunk?
