Still a lot to learn and more to learn.

This is a collected tree that lived as a cascade for several years with its previous owner. It has been with me two years or so. First process was I reported the tree into clay kings mix.

After guidance of the instructor we wired and straightened the branches to open the structure to sun light to encourage a few seasons of strong growth.

Tree structure is not set to look dramatic but to encourage growth. That is the reason for the lack of different pad levels and straight branching.

Enjoy your Bonsai Sunday.

Opening it up to the sun is a good idea.

But straight branches? The trunk is very dranatically curved. So should the branches be.

Maybe you're planning to cut way back once you get some back budding. Even still, that portion you're going to be keeping close to the trunk should be curved.

You'll enjoy Peter. Very talented, and a nice guy, too!

Yes we only set them straight in hopes of back budding. But if nothing back buds well we will add movement to the longer branches. I will bring this point up at next week's study.

This is the first tree for the Peter tea study group. He seems well educated and welcoming.

I will bring this Ashe Juniper to work with him over the next two years.
