A bit quirky...but for those who like The Lord Of The Rings...a hobbit planter

This is sort of cute...reminds me of the movie Lord Of The Rings.

I think that could be a cool fairy garden if one was inclined to do so ;) Just not my cup of tea "P

I just want the hobbit door, moss and path...and a bonsai tree. Think one could hold up with moss around it like that in the photo. I don't want the clothes line and such...fairy garden ...I was hoping to get my husband more "into" it...with it being themed as one of his favorite movies...maybe not then :(. This is why I'm torn to the planter verses the pot. More of a masculine feel...

 that is wicked! I will be studying that closely...very masculine...and just awesome! Thanks for the sharing...I may have to tackle this. Though...I am so very puzzled at how the soil stays in place on a slab...

Did you check the link?

He showed how he did it...start to finish. ;)

Darlene, on the first one the pot is the whole scene, if you were to plant anything in it the door, water etc. would be covered. The second one for a hobbit theme was off, I doubt the hobbit had tire swings or tires for that matter. I agree the one that Dario posted is cool, that was posted here over a year ago too. It looks like something from the L.O.T.R. movie series.

Honest a slab forest perhaps 7 trees slightly tiered with a decent quality Gandalf statue would more then likely capture the look that you are after...

Heh...you will need Ent forest to make that work. ;)

Yes...floral foam for the higher hills...makes sense. The small lip around the actual tree boggles my mind. I have seen hobbit wall fronts for yards. I may go that route. Saved the link in bookmarks. Thanks again Dario!

The first one is a two part planter...the front section the "decoration" of the hobbit look. The back part is the place you plant in. There is no holes...but the guy who makes them could add one I would imagine.

Now you got me started and considering to have my daughter make me the front portion out of bake clay. I know she can do it...hmmm how much TV & computer time should I bribe her with?!?! :o LOL

That is a bit more than I can handle... Lol

I stole this from Wiki, a description of the trees in the German Black Forest:

The forest mostly consists of pines and firs, chiefly a mixture of the European native Norway Spruce and American imported Douglas Fir and White Pine.

Those are all available readily and not expensive... By handle do you mean the actually construction? If so I could easily walk you through a lot of it as there is nothing really difficult. I am almost inclined to do one as I described this Spring as an interest piece along the front entrance depending on how all else goes.

I may take you up on your offer come Spring and I am back from Honduras. Soooo you think a conifer would be more appropriate than a deciduous tree then? How about a weeping form of conifer? (Not really in the movie though I guess)

Handle as in...to heavy to move around when complete. But I could always stand to have a bonsai knowledgable person at a phone call away for if I get stuck in the process.
