I can say that I understand the drawbacks of this plant.
Anyways, I will document the life of this plant here.
I’ve potted up a couple before, only to chuck ‘em back in the woods. They are everywhere!
This one was/is growing in a soon to be grow out bed, and I decided to leave it there. 7B40AB9D-AEAE-4736-A56D-BDCFB1EDA348.jpeg1563CD52-96B3-4421-A5EC-425BF1F28EB1.jpegI chopped this thing early this year because it was annoying me. When digging the grow bed, I discovered the twisty trunk.

I doubt the trunk flares below this, as I pull these things out often with a negative taper tap root.
Still I’m going to give it a chance.
I think I’ll let it thicken up more, but prune at times.
Acer Negundo hoop dreams. ✊

They sure grow plenty fast in all the places I don’t want them to grow! 😜

But it looks like a nice little trunk, why not give it a shot :)

Are you going to pot it up in a container, or let it grow in the ground?

Yeah, that’s for sure! They keep growing underneath my shrubs in the yard. I keep chopping them back.

I think I’ll let it grow in the ground.
This thing really needs to beast up I imagine.
With the large compound leaves, I think I should let it get big, but guide its growth a bit with pruning.

I wouldn’t say they’re super fun…but if you’re willing, why not. If it really turns out poorly, it’ll at least be a good tree to experiment different techniques on

Here is another in the yard I’ve chopped a few times. Moved the rocks away from the base, and was pleasantly surprised. 54359C5E-3327-44EE-8019-C893F7F042D0.jpegDB4AA490-944A-4AAB-9A68-F83B203A5F7A.jpegI’m thinking I’ll dig it out in spring and cut roots back hard.
