A date with a 15$ old gold.

My first time at Lowe’s this year to check out the nursery stock.
I wasn’t seeing anything to my interest, but eventually saw one crusty juniper on the clearance rack. Definitely some dead areas, but most of of it looked ok with long strong shoots.
Trunk looked alright so we will see what I can do with it. After cleaning it out, and some dead branches cut.I left some stumps for Jin. Also removed week growth and cut back vigorous shoots
Ultimately, I decided that this one may need some time in the ground to get real strong.
I combed out the roots top and bottom a little.
Then put it in the garden.

Nice find. It really is fun getting a new tree. No matter how many times we may do it. It's like getting a fresh canvas to use your new tools and tricks. I may not be Picasso but I'm going to go somewhere with it.

I'm a fan of old golds. Bought a 5 gallon about 5 years ago from a local landscape nursery and it just got its first pot a few months ago. Hope you don't mind if I share a pic.
