I picked up a few used pots at the auction and sale this weekend in Oakland. Pretty sweet deals to be had..

If anyone can identify these pots that would be nice. And let me know if any of them are actually worth something, just so I don't put a tree in it and sell it unknowingly on Ebay.

POT#1

more to come...

Hi Brian,

Pot # 1 is from the Sankyou kiln in Tokoname. Don't know the potter's name(s). Nothing special, just another mass produced pot. If you want to know the value, you should post approximate sizes.

#5 - This pot is sweet, almost immaculate after I cleaned it up. Measures about 4"x2"x1" - For a dollar, who could ask for more?

#6 - Larger pot, about 12"x7"x2" - Looks pretty well finished, almost like early Yamaaki.

Well, that's it! Those were my 6 pottery buys at the auction, trees to come later. Thanks in advance to all those that help out in identification!

Brian,

There's a good chance Pot #5 is Sekisen, but I'm not sure. Such crabs were used by a couple different potters.

Ah, so #6 IS Yamaaki. Cool, I thought it looked pretty nice. Thanks guys. I rubbed a few of the pots with Camellia oil to get rid of some of the build up. Was I right in doing so? I didn't even think before I did it...

Bonsaimeister is correct, #5 is definitely sekisen. #4 is Mizutani. I don't recognize the other two stamps, they look Chinese.
I've seen that Cheristar stamp
On pots by several makers, I assume it's an export company, but I'm not sure. Anybody else have any info?
