Are you sure it is "hayabusa" (隼 Falco peregrinus) and not "hatsubusa" (八房 dwarf variety of pines) ?

Brent has them listed as hayabusa, but character translations to western language are not always exact, so the Y may be a T...?
He lists it as similar to if not identical to brocade. Post 16 of this thread shows a brocade that has been allowed to grow freely for a few years.

As far as I have read it is Hayabusa,a dwarf cork bark pine similiar if not the same as the cultivar 'Brocade'.

Looks like it is motoring along nicely. You seem to be getting decent growth for it being a dwarf cultivar and it being in such a small pot. I have alot of pines growing out and its awesome to see even the ones in gallon containers throw out 10"+ candles. Why did you chop what looked like the main leader?

This is my first attempt at JBP.I bought this cultivar through mail and I started energy balencing right away.The leader had abundant shoots and I wanted st stop it right away and keep it small.I do not have room for big bonsai.I imagine it will look nice and more tree like this fall cause the other branches with long needles are packed with buds that I am going to balence per/branch and all the needles will be short like the top.And each branch on top will have further branched.I definately stopped it.Now it will fill in.I would post a pic,but it is hibernating.

Her is my pine Spring photo.You can see the budding of the lower branches better than last fall.I am just gonna keep doing what I am doing with this.At least it will be my learning tree.This fall it should look better without the long needles and will be more compact.
